There is no doubting the dynamic deluge of dance delectations delivered week in week out by clubbing conglomerate Orange Nation, a bevy of brilliant brands having chalked up double figure years stepping out on the scene, we taking a first for 2014 look at its family of forays & pointing towards two magnificent February & March must visit meets.

Orange Nation - Boyz Article

When we look back across the last decade & a half of clubbing on the capitals circuit, there is a colourful collective come bevy of brilliant brands that has stood (and continues to stand) head & shoulders above the rest, both in terms of prolific popularity & exceptional endurance, not to mention an outstanding offering that cannot be beaten. And despite certain quarters throwing stones (many including us at glass houses) with a family of forays, many that extend into double figure years sporting soiree’s on the scene, plus with occasional outings that are, unquestionably THE most popular on the clubbing calendar, even we cannot help but applaud their achievements or escape supporting their spree of clubs & events, this first focus of 2014 on Orange Nation bringing you bang up to date with their bevy of brilliant brands.

Beyond - Jan 4 Banner

So where do we start? Well with the jewel in the Orange Nation collective crown we suppose, Beyond continuing to attract the adoring attention of a colossus of clubbers like no other weekly outing we know, it’s billing as “…the UK’s biggest & best afterhours party…” no hollow claim, as the figures speak for themselves, while with the brand having also gone global, destinations from Amsterdam to Australia, Barcelona to Brazil & plenty more between, plus with a guest & resident D.J. team that reads like an international clubbing who’s who, Beyond has built a respected reputation that puts it right up with the very best in the business. And with 2014 kicking off in scintillating style with the smash hit “Juicy” party, added to its forthcoming appearance at the awesome Arena festival in Mexico, Beyond’s relentless rise & rise seems to be continuing unabated, next weekend’s London party looking a corker, not least that superstar Steve Pitron is back, alongside sizzling Spaniard Carlos Gallardo, more detail on all this brilliant brand’s bashes out & available via their FB page at https://facebook.com/beyondclub

Society Fridays - Jan Banner

The next soiree soaring in our supporting stakes is Society, the party that was born in Soho at the wonder on Wardour Street that was Lo-Profile, its Friday foray giving way to another that saw it shift to Thursday’s, while with the sudden shock closure of this venerable venue last January, it seem Society would be another addition to the gatherings graveyard. However, when it re-surfaced south of the river, staking its claim to a Sunday teatime slot, the original promotions team given the bolstered backing of Orange Nation, it has carved a fervent following that has recently seen it extend itself (in some ways coming full circle) back into Friday’s, the penchant for a party on this pitch proved by the popularity of the four outings thus far, especially the “High Society” affair when both Tony English & Carlos Gallardo stole the show. And with the Sunday soiree, for now, having given way to its Friday fellow, Society in January & beyond is sitting pretty with some prolific parties, D.J.’s on duty including Nathan Six, Fabio Luiggi, Zach Burns, Sam DMS & (of course) Tony English, plus with a heavenly hosting team, this fabulous Friday foray is definitely one to follow, more detail up at https://facebook.com/SocietyProfile.

Orange - Jan 3 Banner

So that’s our top two, but what about the rest, well sandwiching the Orange Nation schedule are two of its most longstanding shindigs, both very much responsible for breaking the mould in terms of clubbing conformity, Gravity pioneering Friday early hours hedonism, having originally pitched its parties from 3 am through till 9 am, while more recently it has slipped to more tangible timings of midnight on Thursday’s till v late Friday morning. Then there is Orange, the club that started the whole clubbing conglomerate we know today, continue to reign supreme on Monday morning’s and, like Gravity, being renowned for partying deep into a time when most would be heading to or at work, we ourselves (a number of years ago) having spilled out close to Monday lunchtime on many an occasion, while these days it’s not quite that late, well unless you hit the new(ish) “Lock In” event which follows Orange each & every week. And with both brands promoted & pimped by the legendary D.J. Fat Tony, plus with the gregarious Glendora hosting, both Gravity & Orange continue to defy the downturn, pulling in the punters proficiently, more details on both out via https://facebook.com/gravitythursdays & https://.facebook.com/groups/163402637194949/ while watch FB for the weekly events pages & postings.

A.M. - Jan Banner

Two other turns that form a prominent part of the Orange Nation family of forays are A:M & Later, the former a Saturday morning meet, while the latter is famed for its Sunday afternoon antics, both boasting over eleven years in existence, A:M having waxed & waned over the years but is a brand that continues to re-invent itself with a roving rendition of residents that currently include D’Johnny, Zach Burns & Chris Brogan, while for January into February are shaking things up terrifically, a list of guests extending to Mike Dower, Massimo Paramour, Hifi Sean, & Michel Mizrahi, while more familiar A:M faces Paul Heron, The Oli & Terry Bryan make up the marvellous mix. As for Later, having been strangely shelved a score or more of Sunday’s ago, giving way to new party “Play”, it seems that the NYD return proved so popular that it is back with a bang from this weekend, although residing in new home Area & following straight on from Beyond which should secure its stay for a string of Sunday’s to come, the fate of its femme fatale as yet unannounced. But, you can’t keep a good thing or even fling down and in both A:M & Later, Orange Nation have two towering treats tipping the scene spotlight scales in their favour, more info on each out on FB pages https://facebook.com/AMafterhours & https://facebook.com/LATER.INFO.

Matinee London - Feb Banner

Now those of the weekly wonders, but what about those occasional outings we hinted towards? Well, the first comes at us on 1st February as the magnificent Matinee machine lands back in London with a “Boom!”, that the name of this exceptional event that sees it return to the place where it all stated for this Spanish superclub in the capital, the amazing Area, special guest & Matinee Spain resident Lydia Sanz being flown in, joining a London team that includes superstar Steve Pitron & many more, Both Tom Stephan & GSP among the list, a taster as to the type of tunes to expect, brought to you by an exclusive Lydia Sanz podcast, while the link to this & all the event info is a mere click away at https://www.facebook.com/events/190203701174021/. But as if that wasn’t enough, equally enthralling Spanish spectacle WE Party is back literally a month later on Saturday 1st March, its latest worldwide theme incarnation “Money” landing on London although not pitching as a premiere, rather following on from Tel Aviv which claims the first outing plaudits in two weekend’s time, while for the news on the March meet here in the capital, follow the WE Party London page at  https://facebook.com/wepartylondon.

Well, that’s just about it for this special feature although we couldn’t think a better way of wrapping up this Orange Nation oration than mentioning their 2014 ID package, one that offers discounted entry to all their events, Q jump entry, access to VIP Area’s & much more, full & further details on this & all things Orange Nation out on their website at http://orangenation.co.uk, leaving us to simply say, January into February is looking bright & beautifully Orange. About discomatt

The History........................................................Created in 2008 after a short period of blogging under his real name, the pseudonym, “Disco Matt”, was born on the back of a reputation for being London’s original party boy having partied and clubbed across the London gay scene since in mid 1990’s.........................................................Through his series of blogs via individual blogging pages which soon morphed into a full blown website (http://discomatt.com), Disco Matt established himself as an independent journalist come columnist who quickly gained a reputation for supporting & promoting one of the world’s most prolific clubbing scenes. He previewed, reviewed & recommended London gay clubs, as well as the diverse gay/metrosexual London club/bar culture, linking to & reviewing the scene top D.J.’s and generally covering the gay scene including international gay events....................................................Regularly reporting on the top events across the scene, Disco Matt’s reviews, over the years, developed a strong following, not just by clubbers, D.J’s, promoters, music producers & scene faces, but people far and wide that were looking for an insight to the incredible scene that was London. He also previewed upcoming events that signalled, either a major change or update of existing clubs, new ventures on the gAylist/metrosexual scene, or where he considered events that deserved more comprehensive coverage to that provided in other posts.............................................However, having pretty much reached the top of his game in his chosen specific field, due to a number of personal predicaments, challenges & changes in his life priorities, Disco Matt parked his writing and operation in February 2014. While the burning desire to continue remained, what this much needed period of inactivity did provide was the time & space to re-think & re-focus his activities on a broader spectrum of media and entertainment............................................................So, following this long two year lay-off, he built up the foundations for this diversification into the areas of film, theatre, radio & television where his reviewing, recommending & reporting was to be replicated & resurrected, also pointing his promotions through more visuals & video's linked to all these areas along with his core activities and passions ................................................................................The Present....................................After another (shorter) period of lay-off from mid 2016, a life changing event reignited his passion and early into 2017, Disco Matt has delivered on his promise for a new, more modern look to his website, shedding the old & tired skin in favour of something far more in keeping with the times and with his blogging roots. And he has waived a fond farewell to his clubbing days, this having also been ditched from his site & activity, rather now just focussing on the genres of film, theatre, radio, television, video and of course, music, in so doing, aiming to broaden his appeal to a much wider audience interested in the latest most cutting edge areas of media & entertainment.............................................................................His aim is to be highly regarded across the industry for his writing in these fields and ultimately become a full time critic in film &/or theatre.
