Wherever we seem to turn there seems to be a clubbing constant that keeps flying into focus, a sensational spring setting up a scintillating summer for a global giant gathering that shouts sunshine like no other, Matinee brimmed with bags full of Balearic beats as it impresses Ibiza at the awesome Amnesia with its island season opener this Saturday (15th June), event & Matinee group details a “Pick of The Day” banner selection away opposite or an image click below, while we briefly Extra Bite into this brilliant brand & its bash beneath.

When we look at the collection of club venues we have visited in our time, there are just a few that, for us, evoke that extra spark, an amazing atmosphere & a prolific presence that set then Sadie from the myriad of others, Turnmills in Farringdon probably topping the list, while Area in Vauxhall will also go down as an all-timer, Fuse in Brussels definitely displaying all those qualities that make it an indelible inclusion, Qube in Rome & Bronx in Cape Town also right up there, the mounds of memories coming flooding back with the mere mention of them. However, while all these venues are very much legends in our lifetime, there can be no escaping some of the global giants that are legends to a vast array of clubbers, Alegria in New York, Arc in Sydney, Berghain in Berlin & Fabric in London all rightfully recognised in the global scene top twenty list. However, talking of this list, it’s probably no surprise that the island of Ibiza boasts venues that occupy no less than five spots in that twenty, DC10, Pacha, Privilege & Space four, the awesome Amnesia the white isle’s fifth and the summer home to some of the world’s biggest clubbing brands, Cream, Cocoon & La Troya all choosing this vibrant venue as their heavenly home. But when it comes to global giants & a marriage of music & clubbing minds, it does come bigger in our books than Matinee & Amnesia, this coming Saturday (15th June) seeing the two together again for what looks like a 2013 season to savour, Matinee very much having stolen a stride on both SuperMartXe & WE, who will be doing their best to sneak a small slice of this Ibiza summer season launch weekend spotlight.

So what can we expect from Matinee at Amnesia this summer and what of the launch party itself? Well, there is no doubt that a spectacular spring season for this giant on the global clubbing circuit has seen it ascend back to the delightfully dizzy heights it held a few years ago, the compatriot competition in the form of SuperMartXe & WE having had their 2009, 10, 11 & 12 say for sure, while there can be no doubt that 2K13 is about just one, this brilliant Barcelona based brand. And while there remains much to marvel over with Matinee’s summer season schedule in Spain, The Circuit Festival the real biggie, with Ibiza also on the ascendency again, its stay at Amnesia and securing Saturday’s signals a sizzling & scintillating summer season for both of the clubbing icons come legends. Indeed, Amnesia is looking particularly good, having already played host to two season club brand launches and, with Matinee taking charge on Saturday, we have a feeling that the eight place they occupy on that list will change pretty rapidly into an upwards direction, while Matinee’s first Ibiza meet of 2013 looks like a real corker, the team having pulled out all the stops to bring their best to bear. So naturally Taito Tikaro heads the star studded line-up, he playing out on the infamous & popular terrace space, he joined by Lydia Sanz in what could be a Matinee “Summer Collection” compilation play-off, especially given that vocalist Vanesa Klein will be playing her part too, while inside its down to the fabulous Flavio Zarza & Andre Vicenzzo to fly the flag as we are sure they will do superbly, all in all making for a Matinee to remember and one we only wish we could make, more details if you are, out via the Matinee page at https://facebook.com/matineegroup, while info on Amnesia is a click away at https://facebook.com/amnesia.bestglobalclub.

So, Saturday certainly looks like a storming summer season start for Matinee in Ibiza and with a run that stretches towards the end of September, there is much to look forward to from this brilliant brand on the while isle. (DISCO MATT)

About discomatt

The History........................................................Created in 2008 after a short period of blogging under his real name, the pseudonym, “Disco Matt”, was born on the back of a reputation for being London’s original party boy having partied and clubbed across the London gay scene since in mid 1990’s.........................................................Through his series of blogs via individual blogging pages which soon morphed into a full blown website (http://discomatt.com), Disco Matt established himself as an independent journalist come columnist who quickly gained a reputation for supporting & promoting one of the world’s most prolific clubbing scenes. He previewed, reviewed & recommended London gay clubs, as well as the diverse gay/metrosexual London club/bar culture, linking to & reviewing the scene top D.J.’s and generally covering the gay scene including international gay events....................................................Regularly reporting on the top events across the scene, Disco Matt’s reviews, over the years, developed a strong following, not just by clubbers, D.J’s, promoters, music producers & scene faces, but people far and wide that were looking for an insight to the incredible scene that was London. He also previewed upcoming events that signalled, either a major change or update of existing clubs, new ventures on the gAylist/metrosexual scene, or where he considered events that deserved more comprehensive coverage to that provided in other posts.............................................However, having pretty much reached the top of his game in his chosen specific field, due to a number of personal predicaments, challenges & changes in his life priorities, Disco Matt parked his writing and operation in February 2014. While the burning desire to continue remained, what this much needed period of inactivity did provide was the time & space to re-think & re-focus his activities on a broader spectrum of media and entertainment............................................................So, following this long two year lay-off, he built up the foundations for this diversification into the areas of film, theatre, radio & television where his reviewing, recommending & reporting was to be replicated & resurrected, also pointing his promotions through more visuals & video's linked to all these areas along with his core activities and passions ................................................................................The Present....................................After another (shorter) period of lay-off from mid 2016, a life changing event reignited his passion and early into 2017, Disco Matt has delivered on his promise for a new, more modern look to his website, shedding the old & tired skin in favour of something far more in keeping with the times and with his blogging roots. And he has waived a fond farewell to his clubbing days, this having also been ditched from his site & activity, rather now just focussing on the genres of film, theatre, radio, television, video and of course, music, in so doing, aiming to broaden his appeal to a much wider audience interested in the latest most cutting edge areas of media & entertainment.............................................................................His aim is to be highly regarded across the industry for his writing in these fields and ultimately become a full time critic in film &/or theatre.
