With our summer struggling to get out of the starting blocks, we have to call on the sunshine sounds of Spain for our latest Podcast & Track of the week selections, Matinee & a handful of its all-star D.J.’s taking the pick plaudits, download details large banner clicks below, while DM delivers his delectations on both beneath
After another week when music has been bombarding our inbox, we have once again found a number of candidates for our weekly podcast & track picks, our newsletter of just yesterday (out at http://discomatt.com/web/?p=7988) including more than just a few that were in the running for this week’s final two, while with the sun struggling to come out here in London, it was to Spain we looked for some shimmering sunshine sounds, our podcast pick much more of a compilation & one (or should we say two) of colossal content & composition, while the track choice is of equal stature & status, a re-work of a classic original that, in its title & more, begs the sunshine to shine on us.
So to the podcast, but we say podcast when we actually mean compilation, as this year’s Matinee “Summer Compilation” deserves the accurate description, not least that it stands tall as a much sought after set of sounds, this global giant of a clubbing brand having looked to two of its most prestigious & world tour renowned D.J. residents to compose the two volumes that make up this excellent 2013 edition. And in choosing Taito Tikaro to take on the first part fills us with absolute musical joy, not least that he, more than any other producer we know, ticks virtually every single beats box of ours, he not holding back with his towering tracks choices, the likes of “The Secret Key Of Life”, “Tierra del Sueno” & a remix of “Shine On Me” coming from his own collection. However, Mr Tikaro also lands on a host of other heavenly house hits to mix into his part of the compilation, Alex Kenji, Federico Scarvo, Chris Cox, Jason Chance & Dario Nunez all favoured producers of ours, the combination of no less than fifteen tracks making for what could easily be our podcast come compilation of the year, let alone week. However, Lydia Sanz holds up her side of the Matinee Summer Compilation deal extremely well, stand-out tracks including Etienne Ozborne’s “Can You Feel It”, Dario Nunez’s “I Like John” & Xavio Alfaro’s “Stay With Me”, while we more than forgive Lydia for including her own track “Dragons & Kings”, as stands tall among her other choices. And with a spectacular introduction instrumental from David Tort, its a close run thing between the two volumes, the combined collection available on iTunes right now at direct link https://itunes.apple.com/es/album/matinee-summer-2013/id655905153, all for just 9.99 Euro’s, making for exceptional value and so well worth adding to your collection.
Then we come to our Track of The Week” and one that is included within the Matinee Summer Compilation, which volume becoming clear when we mention Taito Tikaro, while on this particular single we cannot leave out his co-composers, J Louis, & Feran along with the vocals of Clarence, all responsible for “Shine On Me”, a classic dancefloor dream of prolific pedigree, one that was originally conceived back in 2008, but has since seen scores of re-makes & remixes, making it one of the most popular picks among producers. Yet while the original has run most of not all the remixes out, in terms of standing the test of time, this video capturing it in three & a bit minute length glory,

it was only a question of time before the trio would want to re-work their own classic track and, sweeping aside other composers in contention for this week’s track pick with their 2K13 version, bringing their original bang up to date with the aid of Taito’s current studio production partner, Flavio Zarza. And the foursome have mixed a version to make the original proud, a tougher tech trip it must be said, but the up to date delectation does fair justice to the former, while the inclusion of sexy new vocal infusions throughout by Clarence give it a fabulous new feel & set it significantly aside, the mentions of Matinee leaving you in no mistake that this re-make is sure to play a huge part in the forthcoming summer season of events around the globe, as it has in Mr Tikaro’s part of the 2013 Summer Compilation, albeit in a different remix form. So, with the video also bringing “Shine On me” bang up to date
