With the heat very much on for a London gay Pride weekend of porn-tatsic partying courtesy of brilliant brand Hustlaball, not one or two, but three fabulous events enveloping our excitement, the afterparty line-up & includee announcements not only elevating it to exceptional event partying proportions, but unleashing our News Nibbles post magnifying a mention for this morning meet.
Having not long put our proverbial pen down on a post that propelled a clout of a club brand boost, that after a intro to feature that talked about world renowned & well know club venues, it seems that the focus we have quite coincidentally placed on legendary brands & their homes on the global clubbing circuit is pretty appropriate for the newsworthy announcement that has just hit our desk. And while we may be jumping the gun in terms of order, we simply couldn’t resist sharing the news that the first ever afterhours club in Britain, one which throughout its Turnmills days & beyond has continued to carry the most weight of any morning clubbing meet, has decided to join forces with Hustlaball for their afterparty event at Colosseum on Sunday 30th April, this “Berlin Calling” bash having held plenty of promise before this prolific proclamation. However, while certainly not Turnmills, Trade will find itself in familiar partying territory in three Sunday’s time and will no doubt be pulling out all the stops to make their second room showing equal to the main room part of this marvellous morning meet, the likes of Nick Tcherniak, Pagno & the Sharp Boys possibly employed to sort the “…fierce rulin…” sounds, that along with the iconic images that are sure to festoon their space, the atmosphere & the sounds at Colosseum will be as close to those halcyon Turnmills days as it can be. And you can bet your bottom dollar that once this latest cat out of the bag announcement trail makes it to the doors of the surviving “Trade Babies”, the affectionate term for the club’s fervent followers, the demand for tickets for this “Berlin Calling” bash will soar through the roof.
However, while Trade’s inclusion is exciting enough, this amazing Hustlaball afterparty already had a prolific party pedigree in the making, not least that the promoters have pulled in a shining star from another of the global clubbing circuit giant brands and a Sunday morning meet itself, as D.J. Boris will be flying the Berghain flag, this club without doubt one of the world’s top twenty, a reputation for downright decadent daytime clubbing elevating it in amongst the likes of Space, Amnesia, Pacha & Privilege in terms of scene & industry stature. And no clubbing trip to Berlin can ever be complete without a visit to Berghain, the venue one of the most imposing we have ever come across, the converted power station & its immense industrial feel having blown our mind we when we first visited. But while we skirted the main spaces that trembled with full-on techno sounds, landing on the prolific Paramount Bar found a stunning space that very much reminded us of upstairs at Trade in Turnmills, while seeing the D.J.’s, Boris included, playing vinyl, was indication enough of Berghain’s pure & traditional credentials. Indeed, the majority of clubbers that fill out its vast spaces are hardcore followers of this brilliant Berlin brand in the purest of forms, very much akin to the “Trade Babies” we mentioned before, the tough tech come techno music very much their bag, while in Paramount, the music is more melodic & easier on the ear.
So, having painted that branded picture of Berghain, we cannot think of a better brand to marry up with both Hustlball & now Trade, “Berlin Calling” looks like the place to be come Sunday morning 30th June, no doubt knocking a certain other Vauxhall afterhours off its pompous pedestal perch.
