Amidst a plethora of podcasts & a ton of tracks, we look to two prolific producers & globetrotting D.J.’s for our Podcast & Track of The Week slot selections, our compilation choice from a Parisian pal banging out the beats in Brussels, while our Milano mate produces a phenomenal private mash-up that easily propelled it to the top of our track choices and with download, stream links on the large images below, we also orate our take on the two beneath.

We must have been thinking of the phrases “…failing to prepare, is preparing to fail…” & “proper planning prevents piss poor performance…” when we amassed a plethora of podcasts & a ton of tracks over a close on two week period in producing our latest & most comprehensive music newsletter yet, this preparation uncovering a pulsating podcast & a towering track, both which were destined for our weekly tip top choices. And, despite the stiff competition for this week’s two top choices, Elof de Neve, Ivan Gomez, Mola Mesut & Taito Tikaro coming close but no cigar, it was the Parisian pleasure of a pressing brimming with Brussels inspired beats & the Milano marvel of a phenomenal piece of music that grabbed the podcast & track prize, both producers not just pals, but globetrotting giants on the clubbing scene.

To our podcast pick first and we find Parisian pal Leomeo occupying top spot this week and for good reason, as his “La Demence Meets Hustlaball” mix hits the mark from start to finish and no doubt reflects what we heard was a simply spectacular set at Hustlaball’s first showing in Brussels back on 17th May, opening the city’s Gay Pride weekend in scintillating style, this having been a hop skip & jump over the border for this native of The Philippines who was naturalised into France & Paris in his early & informative years. And while Leomeo adores his beloved adopted city, he has to make the most of Parisian weekends, as for the vast majority, the considerable career he has carved for himself behind the D.J. decks, he is away working in some near or far corner of the world. Indeed, of all the D.J.’s we know, Leomeo has one of the busiest & most varied schedule, he not laying his hat on particular brands, such as, rather allying himself with club promoters which has opened plenty of D.J.’ing doors &globetrotting gigs. So, when it comes to his studio work, Leomeo has to fit an equally hectic schedule into the week, not one passing by when he has a project on the go, a whole collection of tracks given his “Private Edit” tribal touch, many of which he uses in his sets, while his full-on productions which include “The Sound Of C”, Give Me Luv” & “Do You Feel It” tick all our boxes. And given just how many compilations & tracks there are on offer, we often find it difficult to keep up with the Leomeo production pace, although in this latest Le Demence devotion, we were on the money from the off, our humble opinion ranking it as one of his best yet, so very worthy of our “Podcast of the Week slot and one very much for your collection by going to https://soundcloud.com/djleomeo/la-demence-meets-hustlaball & plundering piles of Parisian pleasure.

Onward to our “Track of The Week” and one, like Leo’s podcast, found us on the music money from the minute we pressed that play button, its producer also sharing many of the career characteristics of our Parisian pal, Danny Verde very much a globetrotter, having soared to the higher stratosphere of the clubbing scene just four years ago, having toiled away on productions & in the recording studio for many years before. But a lucky break with Matinee got him noticed and his towering talents for track producing dovetailed into a resounding reputation that now ranks him among contempories such as Hector Fonseca, Pagano and the late great Peter Rauhofer. And like all three, Danny has carved out a colossal following in the US & Canada, while South America is also a prolific playing ground for him, often meaning an exhausting amount of long haul journey’s from his home in Milan. Indeed, just looking at his recent schedule, Miami, San Francisco & New York have featured, he playing at the world renowned Alegria just two days ago, while with gig commitments in Europe calling, Mr Verde is a mile high as we speak. But when he lands, we would stake our lives on the fact that he will, within a day, be back within the hallowed Holab walls of his recording studio, working on new productions, this feather to his considerable bow very much in his blood.  And Danny’s style is very much distinctive, the uplifting & high octane nature of his remixes often finding favour with scores of D.J.’s, dancefloors & radio stations, while official label releases & chart topping tracks pepper his discography. However, it is his private mash-up & resplendent re-work of David Tort’s own remix of the Ultra Nate vs. Norman Doray smash, “Automatic vs. Kalifornia” that we fell upon just two days ago, but loved so much, it simply had to be our “Track of The Week”, even knocking Taito Tikaro’s latest offering back at least seven days, such is its splendour and one you can grab now at https://soundcloud.com/dannyverde/ultranate-vs-norman-doray, no doubt melting into the Milano marvel as we did & continue to do.

So, that’s it for another week, but with another pile of podcasts & a ton of tracks once again mounting up, who will be next to be crowed?, runners already including Adam Turner, Avicii, Pagano & Steven Redant, while we cannot leave Mr Tikaro & Matinee out of the mix, making our next selections somewhat sticky. However, for our current chart topping choices, both Leomeo’s podcast & Danny’s track of worthy winners and prove that, in their hands, “Music Is The Answer!”. (DISCO MATT)

About discomatt

The History........................................................Created in 2008 after a short period of blogging under his real name, the pseudonym, “Disco Matt”, was born on the back of a reputation for being London’s original party boy having partied and clubbed across the London gay scene since in mid 1990’s.........................................................Through his series of blogs via individual blogging pages which soon morphed into a full blown website (http://discomatt.com), Disco Matt established himself as an independent journalist come columnist who quickly gained a reputation for supporting & promoting one of the world’s most prolific clubbing scenes. He previewed, reviewed & recommended London gay clubs, as well as the diverse gay/metrosexual London club/bar culture, linking to & reviewing the scene top D.J.’s and generally covering the gay scene including international gay events....................................................Regularly reporting on the top events across the scene, Disco Matt’s reviews, over the years, developed a strong following, not just by clubbers, D.J’s, promoters, music producers & scene faces, but people far and wide that were looking for an insight to the incredible scene that was London. He also previewed upcoming events that signalled, either a major change or update of existing clubs, new ventures on the gAylist/metrosexual scene, or where he considered events that deserved more comprehensive coverage to that provided in other posts.............................................However, having pretty much reached the top of his game in his chosen specific field, due to a number of personal predicaments, challenges & changes in his life priorities, Disco Matt parked his writing and operation in February 2014. While the burning desire to continue remained, what this much needed period of inactivity did provide was the time & space to re-think & re-focus his activities on a broader spectrum of media and entertainment............................................................So, following this long two year lay-off, he built up the foundations for this diversification into the areas of film, theatre, radio & television where his reviewing, recommending & reporting was to be replicated & resurrected, also pointing his promotions through more visuals & video's linked to all these areas along with his core activities and passions ................................................................................The Present....................................After another (shorter) period of lay-off from mid 2016, a life changing event reignited his passion and early into 2017, Disco Matt has delivered on his promise for a new, more modern look to his website, shedding the old & tired skin in favour of something far more in keeping with the times and with his blogging roots. And he has waived a fond farewell to his clubbing days, this having also been ditched from his site & activity, rather now just focussing on the genres of film, theatre, radio, television, video and of course, music, in so doing, aiming to broaden his appeal to a much wider audience interested in the latest most cutting edge areas of media & entertainment.............................................................................His aim is to be highly regarded across the industry for his writing in these fields and ultimately become a full time critic in film &/or theatre.
