With our second European expedition just under our belt, choosing our podcast & track of the week selections simply had to reflect the terrific time we had in Belgium & the superb sounds we soaked up while within its borders, Elof De Neve wearing the podcast hat, while the delightful Dirty South are our messiah’s track wise, we sharing our take & links to both in this latest special, if shorter than usual, feature.

Fresh from our twelve hour trip to Belgium, one amazingly influenced by our attendance to Antwerp and the music we melted into at Red & Blue for The Propaganda World Tour party “Deep Down The Rabbit Hole”, then while returning on Eurostar out of Brussels in a fragile emotional state, having waved a fond farewell to all our fabulous friends, but especially one who remains very close to our heart, the choices for our both podcast & track of the week selections became quickly crystal clear. And both our choices represent & bookmark the wonderful weekend we have just had, both that will recall those marvellous memories each & every time we play them, very much bookmarking the brilliance of Belgium.

Elof De Neve - Image Main 2So to our podcast first and it will come as no real surprise that it comes from Red & Blue’s longest serving residents and very much the main man when it comes to The Propaganda World Tour series of parties, now into its third season, the man himself marking a fabulous five years at the helm of what is very much a clubbing institution in Antwerp. And, having just devoted a special focus feature on Elof De Neve, while we pointed to many of his productions, we were careful to steer around this particular podcast as, in reality, we had already decided to pick it as our latest weekly choice. Indeed, in his latest volume in a now thirty nine strong series of productions, Elof dedicated this seventy minute splendour simply entitled “Propaganda Edition”, we have a colossal composition that not only reflects Mr De Neve at his producing best, but also mirrors the stunning set that we savoured less than twelve hours ago. But moreover, it very much represents the overtness & opulence of The Propaganda World Tour, a branded party that has very much taken Red & Blue and Antwerpians by storm, the opening track of this prolific podcast shouting this spectacle from the rooftops,  Elof then taking us into a shimmering succession of stunning sounds & breathtaking beats very much in his style of energetic, euphoric & dynamic dance house music, this colossal compilation available to stream/download in slightly edited state at https://soundcloud.com/elofdeneve/elof-de-neve-vol-39-2013-propaganda-edition.

To our track of the week now and one that played its part on our latest European excursion, very much encapsulating all the emotions we were feeling on leaving behind many if the fabulous friends we have come to know at Red & Blue and Propaganda particularly, but especially one incredible individual that really has a special place in our heart. Indeed, not being able to get him & our twelve hour trip out of our head, there was a moment when we were going to decide upon Mark Knight’s sampled 2013 version of the Kylie Minogue classic “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head” in Tom Jnr club mix form

although it did play a prominent part on our Parisian partying back in January, not least that Adam Turner had us in tears as he pitched perfectly in his stunning set at Room Service. However, while Mr Knight’s track did feature on our return trip today, it part of the podcast we were playing, it was the magnificent “Messiah” by Monsta in Dirty South remix form

Monsta - Messiahthat captured our mood the most, a track which we were so close to nominating it as our top choice for 2013, having become acquainted with in in the summer of that year, courtesy of eSquire’s “Summer Vocal Bombs” podcast. But, while it had already found a special place in our musical memories, listening to it as the Eurostar raced through the Belgium countryside & also reflecting on leaving our beautiful Belgian boy behind,  brought both the track & its limited lyrics to life, one which will now forever associated with those marvellous minutes in time, one available to download via http://www.beatport.com/track/messiah-dirty-south-extended-remix/4353798 and looks like becoming a 2014 track of the year frontrunner for sure.

So, with Belgium and its brilliance still running through our blood, we reckon that in our two choices for podcast & track of the week, it will be running for a very long time to come, both proving that, despite to mood, the euphoria or the emotion, “Music is The Answer!” (DISCO MATT)

About discomatt

The History........................................................Created in 2008 after a short period of blogging under his real name, the pseudonym, “Disco Matt”, was born on the back of a reputation for being London’s original party boy having partied and clubbed across the London gay scene since in mid 1990’s.........................................................Through his series of blogs via individual blogging pages which soon morphed into a full blown website (http://discomatt.com), Disco Matt established himself as an independent journalist come columnist who quickly gained a reputation for supporting & promoting one of the world’s most prolific clubbing scenes. He previewed, reviewed & recommended London gay clubs, as well as the diverse gay/metrosexual London club/bar culture, linking to & reviewing the scene top D.J.’s and generally covering the gay scene including international gay events....................................................Regularly reporting on the top events across the scene, Disco Matt’s reviews, over the years, developed a strong following, not just by clubbers, D.J’s, promoters, music producers & scene faces, but people far and wide that were looking for an insight to the incredible scene that was London. He also previewed upcoming events that signalled, either a major change or update of existing clubs, new ventures on the gAylist/metrosexual scene, or where he considered events that deserved more comprehensive coverage to that provided in other posts.............................................However, having pretty much reached the top of his game in his chosen specific field, due to a number of personal predicaments, challenges & changes in his life priorities, Disco Matt parked his writing and operation in February 2014. While the burning desire to continue remained, what this much needed period of inactivity did provide was the time & space to re-think & re-focus his activities on a broader spectrum of media and entertainment............................................................So, following this long two year lay-off, he built up the foundations for this diversification into the areas of film, theatre, radio & television where his reviewing, recommending & reporting was to be replicated & resurrected, also pointing his promotions through more visuals & video's linked to all these areas along with his core activities and passions ................................................................................The Present....................................After another (shorter) period of lay-off from mid 2016, a life changing event reignited his passion and early into 2017, Disco Matt has delivered on his promise for a new, more modern look to his website, shedding the old & tired skin in favour of something far more in keeping with the times and with his blogging roots. And he has waived a fond farewell to his clubbing days, this having also been ditched from his site & activity, rather now just focussing on the genres of film, theatre, radio, television, video and of course, music, in so doing, aiming to broaden his appeal to a much wider audience interested in the latest most cutting edge areas of media & entertainment.............................................................................His aim is to be highly regarded across the industry for his writing in these fields and ultimately become a full time critic in film &/or theatre.
