What a year, well to be accurate what a two years, we quite shocked how long it has been since we have been out of action. But the good news is that we are back, dusting off some of the old while polishing up the new features heralding our new direction in this new year of two thousand and sixteen, this our report on where we were and where we are heading.

Well, to say it has been our the most turbulent & tumultuous time in our relatively short seven years is the biggest understatement we could find the strength to share, we having faced some of the most challenging life hurdles that included the loss of our father and our own uphill battle against the dreaded cancerous disease that was the cause of our dad’s death, while in terms of Disco Matt’s reputation across the capitals clubbing circuit, a change of allegiances early in 2012 saw us lose us fatal favour with a major clubbing promoter, effectively sidelining us from all the headline events we previously enjoyed, dented our enthusiasm for our passion, at the time it seemed beyond repair. However, the worst was still to come as a serious hack of our website domain saw us suspend all operations indefinitely while we struggled to come to terms with our personal issues and those of our reputation, while throughout this time, the desire to deliver what we did best, our reviews, our reports and our recommendations never really diminished, it was our discipline & drive that was dented

Disco Matt In A`WigWith our personal life heading in a distinctly different direction throughout this testing time and with priorities changing, while the alter ego that is Disco Matt may have disappeared from the clubbing scene, he was appearing in other places, pursuing other passions and being beamed across broadcasts and it was this that signalled a change in focus and a diversification into a broader section of media entertainment. Indeed, following a landmark heavenly homeland homage late last year during which we laid the foundations for this fresh direction, our determination to bring back our blogging was boosted by a clutch of clubbing & other headline happenings as we waived out the old year and embraced the new, the opportunity to revive our reviews & reports among much more, was a tug & temptation too ravenous to resist and while we remain a little rusty, this very recital is paving the way for much more to come, some features familiar, others unaccustomed, while all celebrating the common denominator that is our reinvigorated desire to deliver on our dream, this new Disco Matt direction.

Matt At RevolverSo what of the detail on this new direction and what have we morphed ourselves from? Well it all stared back in 2009, Disco Matt building a reputation for being London’s original party boy & independent journalist, supporting & promoting one of the world’s most prolific clubbing scenes. Through a series of reports, he previewed, reviewed & recommended London gay clubs, as well as the diverse gay/metrosexual London club/bar culture, linking to & reviewing the scene top D.J.’s and generally covering the gay scene including international gay happenings. Regularly attending the top events across the scene, Disco Matt’s reviews, over the years, developed a strong following, not just by clubbers, D.J’s, promoters & scene faces, but people far and wide that were looking for an insight to the incredible scene that was London & elsewhere. Plus, having a keen ear for a great sound & an in-depth knowledge of the D.J. scene in London & beyond, Disco Matt regularly recommended the latest tracks that were either hitting or about to hit the dance floors, as well as compilation works worth more than just a listen, focussing on D.J’s careers & profiles, as well as promoting new talent.

Matt - Profile Pic 2Yet while we can be proud of our history, the long layoff has demanded a considerable & concerted change in focus, our decision to diversify into to other forms of media, including film, theatre, radio & television meaning a drawback from our core clubbing coverage towards these increasing interests in our life along with our main & mounting passion, music. So our former features including reports & recommendations will return, this during a period of transition where the “old” will merge with the “new”. However, the activity for which we were best known & famed, our reviews, will span the full range of the media areas he will be covering henceforth, his recommending & reporting complimenting his event coverage which aims to broaden our appeal to a much wider audience interested in the latest most cutting edge areas of media & entertainment we will be covering. Work on our website is ongoing, new logo’s and a new look all in the pipeline, so while we may not look much different from before for now, exciting times & changes are ahead, so watch this space, while standby for a reap of reviews, reports, features and much much more. About discomatt

The History........................................................Created in 2008 after a short period of blogging under his real name, the pseudonym, “Disco Matt”, was born on the back of a reputation for being London’s original party boy having partied and clubbed across the London gay scene since in mid 1990’s.........................................................Through his series of blogs via individual blogging pages which soon morphed into a full blown website (http://discomatt.com), Disco Matt established himself as an independent journalist come columnist who quickly gained a reputation for supporting & promoting one of the world’s most prolific clubbing scenes. He previewed, reviewed & recommended London gay clubs, as well as the diverse gay/metrosexual London club/bar culture, linking to & reviewing the scene top D.J.’s and generally covering the gay scene including international gay events....................................................Regularly reporting on the top events across the scene, Disco Matt’s reviews, over the years, developed a strong following, not just by clubbers, D.J’s, promoters, music producers & scene faces, but people far and wide that were looking for an insight to the incredible scene that was London. He also previewed upcoming events that signalled, either a major change or update of existing clubs, new ventures on the gAylist/metrosexual scene, or where he considered events that deserved more comprehensive coverage to that provided in other posts.............................................However, having pretty much reached the top of his game in his chosen specific field, due to a number of personal predicaments, challenges & changes in his life priorities, Disco Matt parked his writing and operation in February 2014. While the burning desire to continue remained, what this much needed period of inactivity did provide was the time & space to re-think & re-focus his activities on a broader spectrum of media and entertainment............................................................So, following this long two year lay-off, he built up the foundations for this diversification into the areas of film, theatre, radio & television where his reviewing, recommending & reporting was to be replicated & resurrected, also pointing his promotions through more visuals & video's linked to all these areas along with his core activities and passions ................................................................................The Present....................................After another (shorter) period of lay-off from mid 2016, a life changing event reignited his passion and early into 2017, Disco Matt has delivered on his promise for a new, more modern look to his website, shedding the old & tired skin in favour of something far more in keeping with the times and with his blogging roots. And he has waived a fond farewell to his clubbing days, this having also been ditched from his site & activity, rather now just focussing on the genres of film, theatre, radio, television, video and of course, music, in so doing, aiming to broaden his appeal to a much wider audience interested in the latest most cutting edge areas of media & entertainment.............................................................................His aim is to be highly regarded across the industry for his writing in these fields and ultimately become a full time critic in film &/or theatre.
