Billed as a special thank you to everyone that had voted for the club in the recent Boyz awards, Beyond was in celebratory mood, swinging open its doors extra early at (as the title hints), midnight, the Terrace Room spilling out into The Chapel and eventually the main space. Now, given the special start & nature of this latest Beyond bash, you would have thought the team would have been prepared for the hoards that descended on Area, yet as we arrived at just shy of 4.30 a.m., we were greeted with complete pandemonium, organisational cogs in the wrong place & a free for all queue system. But saving that detail for another report, once inside, all was forgotten as Hifi Sean served up some superb sounds to get us in the right mood for what was to come, our arrival on our spot in the main room timed to perfection as Steve Pitron had just got into gear for his 2 ½ hours set stint that was simply sensational. With track after track blowing our minds and, like “Muscle” three weeks ago, sending us on an emotional rollercoaster ride of music merriment, we were yet again treated to minutes of magic standing next to the man in the D.J. booth, as he delivered an awesome mix of Rebeka Brown’s “Offshore”, neatly followed by classics “Last Forever” & the biggie “Release Me”, all three erupting tears of joy & happiness from our eyes. But it didn’t stop there as renditions from podcasts “Summer 2010” & “Afterhours 2011” left us awe inspired, the captivating company making it all the more magnificent, especially the bountiful Bailey who made a brilliant Beyond even better. Plus with a supporting cast including The Sharp Boys, Mikey D, Paul Heron, The Oli, Fat Tony, D’Johnny, Paul Christian, DouGuim, Jc Christopher & the two terrifc talents already mentioned, the music doesn’t get better than this, that statement of our last three outings proving a little flawed, as in this “Midnight” magnificence, it did get better & by a long shot. So, with so much more to say, its “ready steady go for the review” (DISCO MATT)
