After one of the quietest January’s on the capitals clubbing circuit we can remember, it seems that February is exploding into action, we sticking with London for our three “Best Bites”, while with plenty still going on internationally, they take prominence in a stack of “Short Shouts”, while some snippets of news & dance diary dates completes our weekend post package.

While our continental compatriots have continued to club & cavort during January without applying any sort of brake, is us, or has there not been much going on here in the capital, well in Vauxhall at least, while closures & a general flat feel may be the fault that leads us to this conclusion. However, there can be little doubt that February is starting as it means to go on, three exceptional events seeing London sweep our “Best Bites” board, while with still such a lot happening abroad, we “Short Shout” for all things international with a couple of mini home mentions too. Plus with news nibbles & diary dates, it’s all go in this our latest & still combined recommends newsletter.

So, to a news nibble first and there has been much confusion today as to where Vauxhall club night Gravity will take place this week, some sources saying it was switching to Area in l, while we can confirm that for this week & beyond, it will remain at its current home, Covert, the event information at https://facebook.com/events/363794247061393/ still standing.

Right to our first “Best Bite” and we head to Electric Brixton, the host venue for Puscha’s “Undercover – Let The Mystery Begin” event, which takes place this Saturday (2nd Feb), a D.J. line up to dream off, while with a distinct 007 theme and the Puscha party pack & faithful notorious for dressing for the occasion, glamour simply isn’t enough to explain just what a flamboyant frolic this is going to be. And having given both Puscha and this event our full preview coverage & exposure just over a week ago, while we shared some of the party detail then, we thought we would elaborate a little more here, first recapping on the D.J. line up which is nothing short of stunning and, as we have said a D.J. dream, each one also prolific music producers in their own right. So when we say that Tom Novy, Paul Gardner & Seamus Haji are three, you can see what we mean, while Tony English is an out & out man for all scene seasons and is on the cusp of a huge record release that we have been sworn to secrecy on, for now at least. As for the rest of the detail, well here it is in a nutshell, “Undercover – Let The Mystery Begin” running from 10 p.m. till 6 a.m., tickets available on the door, while advance ones are too at http://www.clubtickets.com/gb/2013-02/02/pushca-undercover-spy-ball, &.or, http://residentadvisor.net, outlets Prowler & Clone Zone other sources for your standard £20 pass, while for more info, or hit on the Facebook events page at http://facebook.com/events/473672562668215/ or head to the clubs website http://pushca.com. But we can’t let this “Best Bite” mention pass without also propelling the our exclusive interview with Seamus Haji, this enticing insight into his truly compelling & colossal career plus plans for his set on Saturday, all a must read at http://discomatt.com/web/?p=6888, while we are gutting we will be missing him, Tom, Paul & Tony, as prior commitments mean we are away in Antwerp, but if we were in London, this is where we could be and reckon you should be too.

So let’s squeeze in a couple of “Short Shouts” and first that Antwerp attraction that means we can’t be at Puscha, although in Propaganda’s “XL American Dream” event, this Saturday (2nd Feb) at Red & Blue, we have a party that looks like being just as amazing (if not more) than its capital counterpart, gogo’s, drag queens & acrobats creating club theatre like we have never seen before, while with super star D.J./Producer Elof de Neve headlining this exceptional event, the sounds will be simply superb, more info up at https://facebook.com/events/405170699565715/.

Sticking with Saturday we shout out for Scream in Paris, who score a giant goal this Saturday with their “Festival” event, D.J. Ares heading up a team of turntable talent that includes David Judge, Paris Topher & Trippy Gonzales, while with performers on stage pretty much all night, the main room action should be awesome, not forgetting that Scream’s second space propels all out pop and there’s even a naughty room too. And with the festival continuing at official Scream afterparty, Wake Up, with the brilliant Ben Manson, check out either http://scream-paris.com &/or https://facebook.com/groups/53427623634/.

Back to best biting and our next is a new cub that launches this Saturday, the words “Best Bite” fitting Baked like a glove, this planned to be monthly meet throwing its launch this Saturday (2nd Feb) at Green Carnation in Soho, a multi floored venue not dissimilar to The Edge, while we reckon it’s the GC ground floor & basement for Baked on this occasion. That said, we cannot agree more with the PR team when they say “…something is rising in Soho…” which is such good news after that sudden closure notice a few streets away, while we are told the Baked musical recipe is “…200 gram(s) classic house, 300 gram(s) anthems, 1 pinch of disco & 1 extra large dollop of FUN…” , fun clearly the optimum word here, while resident D.J.’s Chris Brogan & Jay Jayman bring plenty of impressive playing ingredients to the Baked music mixing bowl. With Chris having played for big brands Salvation & Love Muscle, while he features regularly for Hed Kandi, Defected & MOS, Jay bringing his residency experience from Bromance, Madhouse, & East Bloc, as well as  his own night “Nine Bob Note”, Saturday’s extra D.J. additive comes in the form of special guest Phil Marriott, a man who has anchored a selection of shows for much of the airplay history of the much missed Gaydar Radio, gigs across the UK, but most notably for Popstarz, Onyx & XXL in London, meaning he brings a musical spice variety that should make the Baked mix balloon. Plus with new to the scene host Patrick bringing personality, good time determination & party circuit prominence, there is much to marvel with the already looking brilliant Baked, which kicks off from 9 p.m., entry £8 before midnight, £10 thereafter, while concs are just £5, more info out via this club night’s page at https://facebook.com/bakedsoho as well as at https://facebook.com/events/120509218121845/.

Onwards to some “Short Shouts”, we head over the channel again and back to Belgium as Brussels brilliance La Demence holds its first meet since NYD, celebrating Valentine’s Day early tomorrow night (Fri 1st Feb) with its “Hunting For Love” affair, a dynamic D.J. line up including La D residents Andrei Stan & Steven Redant, while regular guest Paul Heron returns, added to which Dikky Vendetta & Micky Friedman also star, Fuze sure to be packed to the rafters, extensive event info up at https://facebook.com/events/457280457668425/, while head to https://facebook.com/pages/LA-DEMENCE/118510491162 for the clubs March & Easter event disco diary dates, aiming sure you don’t miss the boat on the La Demence cruise either.

Another Friday frolic that gets our “Short Shouts” spotlight is Rome’s Muccassassina which is sure to impress with its “Icon” incarnation, although with a D.J. line up that seems to be missing a little international influence, this is probably a party aimed at resident Romans, while the venue is undoubtedly one of the most spectacular across the global scene, so for that reason alone is well worth a visit. Plus with pop music being the overriding order of this “Icon” day, artistic director Angelo Pellegrino is pandering to his party patriots while for all the detail head to https://facebook.com/events/440879255983991/, while if you happen to be in Rome on 12th Feb (that’s a Tues) Mucca has its extra Carnival caper, so another date for your dance diary.

To our third & final “Best Bite for this weekend and while we still have issues with the venue location, there can be no doubt that on Saturday, the significant talk of the town & one of the hottest places to be & be seen on the scene will be Matinee, which makes a welcome return to London, s short sabbatical seeing its come out of hibernation with its “Pervert” party this Saturday (2nd Feb). Now, we said our piece in our special preview, not least over both host venue Fire not being appropriate and the music policy looking like it will shift significantly with more than a tip of the sound scales slant towards tech & tribal. However, we have today learnt that in addition to Matinee’s Spanish superstar (& fab friend) Javier Medina headlining, Ale Amaral joins a team that also includes a massive name on the global clubbing circuit, Pagano sure to pull considerable crowd, while Lee Yeomans, Massimo Paramour & D’Johnny should also delight, while the set we would have headed for had we have been going, would be Pier Morrocco’s who, like Ale, balances those tech & tribal scales superbly with a more progressive & uplifting bag of beats. Now, the news on the ground is that advance ticket sales have gone crazy in the last few days, so we reckon you need to get in fast by either heading to Soho outlets Prowler, Clone Zone (both shops), Fifty Dean, Ku-Bar (Frith & Lisle St’s) and Rupert St bar, or going online to http://orangenation.co.uk/events/matinee-pervert/ where the standard £15 options are still available, Plus, the Matinee machine rolls into action tonight at Room Service for their pre-party, the Spanish superclub’s London promoter, Mauricio Ortiz, joined on Greek street by a set of sexy studs in true Matinee style, more info on this out at https://facebook.com/events/531994096822184/, while for the “Pervert” party itself, go to http://facebook.com/events/122467604587638/, Fire sure to be a roadblock on Saturday, so our advice is to get there early & stake your claim close to the main stage as the shows are set to be spectacular, our preview at http://discomatt.com/web/?p=6797 delving deeper into the detail.

So to our final set of “Short Shouts” we aim our arrow, once again, on Rome now and hit the target with Splash which rewards our sharp shooting with its bulls-eye bash, the first 2013, also this Saturday (2nd Feb), the new venue location for this marvellous meet now into its fourth season, the spectacular Saponeria Club, proving popular with the Splash clubbing collective and with regular resident D.J. Simone De Biasio joined by special guest from Madrid, Sredu, plus live acts, acrobats & plenty of performance surprises too, it looks like Splash could be showing off a clean pair of captivating clubbing heels, more detail up at https://www.facebook.com/events/416061151797712/.

Last, but by no means least our weekend recommends blocks is a mini mention for TheMenWhoFell2Earth, we finding ourselves back here in London, east to be precise and East Bloc even for accurate, this barmy bunch returning on Saturday (2nd Feb) too, resplendent resident rhythm reprobates JC Wood, Lil LV Sodomystorm, Cummy Bear joined by special guest, Hard Cock Life’s Rory Phillips, while hosts Oly & Bother got more than a mention in this week’s QX Magazine, TheMenWhoFell2Earth no strangers to press publications either, so certainly a place to hang your alternative happening hat, more detail out at https://facebook.com/events/467328669995719/.

Now just before we sign off, a few dates for your dance diaries, the first being Swallow, another new club launch, although this one taking place this coming Tuesday (5th Feb) in Mayfair, while Deelooded “Eastside” next Sunday (10th Feb) is a must visit event in our books, so should be in yours too. Them the following weekend, it’s time for another new clubbing concept, this time the colossal combo, Prohibition, Saturday 16th Feb the date & brands Lovechild, Bear Necessity, Queer Nation & Butch the game, yet more new blood coming at you the previous night (Fri 15th Feb), The Orange Group launching Manic at Area, although the less said about the “Panic” strap-line the better, while WE “Carnival” in Madrid next Saturday (9th Feb) is surely a must diary date.

Right that is it for another weekend of our recommendations and plenty for you to pick out, while for us is Antwerp, Red & Blue and Propaganda our rounds Saturday/Sunday trip meaning we miss out on all three of our “Best Bites” & those string of other “Short Shouts”, although with so much to choose from we are sure that, sometime over this explosion of events first in February, you will surely “Go There! Be There!” (DISCO MATT)
