It seems an absolute age since we tripped across to Fire on a Sunday afternoon, the host venue for the craziness that is Later, the natural follow on from Beyond, serving up the option of dancing in the dark (ish) or socialising in the sunshine, well at least when the sun is shining! But with the Easter weekend weather being nothing less than glorious (what a fabulous change!) the thought of combing stints of spinning to some scintillating sounds with that superb sunshine socialising was too much to resist, although we decided on the Monday option, being the second Later outing of the weekend & right after an outstanding Orange event that kept us enticed right till the end. So, having popped home for a quick refresh, we landed on Fire at just turned 3 a.m. to find an outside area brimming with party people soaking up the wonderful weather, while inside the dancefloor was also rammed, Paul Heron perfecting plumes of pumping progressive house hits that were going down a storm. However, searching for our Cougar clubbing pal Stephen, we eventually found him slumped on a seat outside, the ravages of an exceptionally hot SuparMartXe having taken its toll on him, although after lots of chit chat & meeting with friends & familiar faces, including Orange’s exceptional promoter Steven Sharp, we gathered ourselves for a more lengthy boogie, this time to the genius of George Sharp who, like he did in Orange earlier, delivered a dream of a set, old classics mixed in with new beats that kept us cavorting in our spot by the D.J. booth for the majority of his set. Mind you with the outside still teaming with tottie, a further respite was in order before the final foray which proved the most fruitful as Gonzalo was on spectacular song, hitting our sweet musical spots with track after tremendous track, the finale of “Here Comes The Rain” receiving resounding raptures, not least from female friend Sophie Pearson who had us in stitches with a couple of classic lines, while Cougar Stephen was also on claw clenching form too. So, with so much more to lament about Later, its “…ready, steady, go for the review…” (DISCO MATT)
