Reports – “Caught On The Hop” – Matt Monthly Message – Tuesday 1st March

Comments Off on Reports – “Caught On The Hop” – Matt Monthly Message – Tuesday 1st March

Way back when we thought it would be a great idea to keep all our Facebook group followers up to speed with each & every review, preview, report, newsletter & music post we issued, first issuing a wave of messages, which some found a little too over the top in terms of volume. So, we then regressed into posting on our group & page walls alone and whilst the reaction and traffic was reasonable, we also thought it would be a good idea to re-instigate our messages, although restrict them to just ONE, reporting on our activity in a neat & nifty form.

As a result, the “Matt Monthly Message” was born, although with the initial aim of just posting to our Facebook customers, although, given the activity on our website and the wealth of activity, we thought it would be great to share it here too. Covering the majority of our site sections, the post aims to give you a bite sized reflection on the month just gone and then pointing you in the direction of the month to come, nothing more nothing less, just a neat way to tidy up the recent past & point to the action to come.

So, introduction and chat over, here is our “Matt Monthly Message” as issued to our Face book group followers and now to you too.

With Feb having come & gone in a flash, it seems the shortest month has also caught us on the hop, but with plenty to look back on, we also look forward with our latest monthly message.

REVIEWS – Europe was first blood with reflections on Spyce Bar in Paris then La Demence, Red & Blue completing our Euro round up. Back in London the Mr Escort Of The Year @ Ku-Bar got our coverage, as did Lovechild’s 2nd birthday & Beyond “Erotica”.

PREVIEWS – With a special look at SuperMartXe dominating, a new post was born in Feb, “Preview The Review” bite sizing in advance of the full review(s), Spyce Bar, La-Demence, Lovechild & Beyond all getting dinky devotions. March will see these continue un-abated.

RECOMMENDS – It was a patchy month with time robbed in both Europe & South Africa, but we managed a Weekend Focus on Lovechild, as well as a revamp of our Best Bites to include newbie Short Shouts. March should see a return to full weekly activity with Focuses a-plenty.

REPORTS – Just as we had posted our preview of SuperMartXe, news hit of a date change which we reported on immediately, while those bite sized reviews were also included here.

MUSIC – Fast moving Feb saw just two posts, one serenading Valentine’s Day & then that Euro special we mentioned in Jan. March starts with our latest newsletter “Catalogue Of Compilations To Choose” & then the 2nd of a three part tribute to Alan K hot on its heels.

D.J.’S – We started moving our D.J. focuses over from our old blog pages and Feb also saw us commission a biography for Leomeo’s website, hinting us to remind you D.J.’s out there to check our services & get in touch (details below).

COMING UP – March starts in South Africa, reviews of Cape Town Pride & various clubs to come, while back in London its Lovechild on 19th plus Beyond & Later on 26th, cousin Crisco Matt taking charge at Hard On! “F***” on 25th.

Reviews aside, highlights include a new Reports post, the postponed Disco Matters on Tantra, DM Does cultural pieces on Berlin & Paris and more D.J. focuses. Plus, March should see not one, two, but three music newsletters as we catch up then keep pace.

KEEP UP & CONTACT US – You can keep up with us keeping up in two simple ways, either by watching our home page at http://discomatt.com or by checking our wall here & on our other FB pages. Contacting us is easier & just an e-mail away at matt@discomatt.com, so if you bars, clubs or events fancy an inclusion in any of our posts, just drop us a line.

So, beware of imitations & see you on the dancefloor….Go There! Be There! (DISCO MATT)

About discomatt

The History........................................................Created in 2008 after a short period of blogging under his real name, the pseudonym, “Disco Matt”, was born on the back of a reputation for being London’s original party boy having partied and clubbed across the London gay scene since in mid 1990’s.........................................................Through his series of blogs via individual blogging pages which soon morphed into a full blown website (http://discomatt.com), Disco Matt established himself as an independent journalist come columnist who quickly gained a reputation for supporting & promoting one of the world’s most prolific clubbing scenes. He previewed, reviewed & recommended London gay clubs, as well as the diverse gay/metrosexual London club/bar culture, linking to & reviewing the scene top D.J.’s and generally covering the gay scene including international gay events....................................................Regularly reporting on the top events across the scene, Disco Matt’s reviews, over the years, developed a strong following, not just by clubbers, D.J’s, promoters, music producers & scene faces, but people far and wide that were looking for an insight to the incredible scene that was London. He also previewed upcoming events that signalled, either a major change or update of existing clubs, new ventures on the gAylist/metrosexual scene, or where he considered events that deserved more comprehensive coverage to that provided in other posts.............................................However, having pretty much reached the top of his game in his chosen specific field, due to a number of personal predicaments, challenges & changes in his life priorities, Disco Matt parked his writing and operation in February 2014. While the burning desire to continue remained, what this much needed period of inactivity did provide was the time & space to re-think & re-focus his activities on a broader spectrum of media and entertainment............................................................So, following this long two year lay-off, he built up the foundations for this diversification into the areas of film, theatre, radio & television where his reviewing, recommending & reporting was to be replicated & resurrected, also pointing his promotions through more visuals & video's linked to all these areas along with his core activities and passions ................................................................................The Present....................................After another (shorter) period of lay-off from mid 2016, a life changing event reignited his passion and early into 2017, Disco Matt has delivered on his promise for a new, more modern look to his website, shedding the old & tired skin in favour of something far more in keeping with the times and with his blogging roots. And he has waived a fond farewell to his clubbing days, this having also been ditched from his site & activity, rather now just focussing on the genres of film, theatre, radio, television, video and of course, music, in so doing, aiming to broaden his appeal to a much wider audience interested in the latest most cutting edge areas of media & entertainment.............................................................................His aim is to be highly regarded across the industry for his writing in these fields and ultimately become a full time critic in film &/or theatre.
