We may have suffered major main computer meltdown just 24 hours ago, but we are back & with a significant stride in our step to boot, now paving the way to our much awaited reviews of 2011, this report hinting towards what to expect from our most comprehensive year end reflections to date.
Already finding ourselves deep into the first month of the New Year, we also find ourselves in the unusual position that we have yet to post our Year End club reviews of the last twelve months passed, we having very much been wrapped up in the simply sensational NY weekend which started for us on 30th Dec & didn’t end until 2nd January. So, while we have festive season reviews of Orange/Trade, Profile, We “Safari” & As One still due (Beyond’s NYD reflection is already out at http://discomatt.com/web/2012/01/reviews-colossal-classics-celebration-beyond-nyd-super-party-sunday-1st-january-full-size-review/) our immediate priority is to devote our time & energies to our 2011 Y.E. reviews, reflecting on the prolific & protégé players that, musically wise at least made it our “Best Year Yet”, while our super size 2011 club review, “The Up’s, The Down’s, The High’s The Lows” will take you through the whole year of extraordinary eventing that was our clubbing trip fantastic & one which was every bit the rollercoaster ride the title suggests.
However, with these reviews being our two most sizeable compositions of the year, we have decided to divide them up a little, not least so we can also deliver our festive season reflections in a timely fashion, those along with our regular activity, while we are keen to avoid overwhelming you with the huge content both the music & club devotions will no doubt include. So, music wise, we will be splitting our Y.E. reviews into three, looking separately at “The Tracks”, “The Podcasts” & “The Sets”, while our club review will be also be divided into three, split simply “January To April”, “May To August” & “September To December”. Our aim will be to deliver the music reviews first and then look back on the clubbing year, posting one per weekend from next Sunday (15th Jan) and in so doing complete our most comprehensive year end set of reflections to date. With the results of our self invoked & induced 2011 polls also featuring in our Y.E. music & club reviews, categories including best D.J., best set, best podcast, best club, best event, best promoter & best newcomer, these nominations will pave the way for the round of other scene awards to come at the beginning of February, no doubt resulting in interesting & intriguing comparisons.
So, while the last 24 hours have seen us feel very much “Upside Down & Inside Out” as a result of major IT troubles, the scene is now set, we are back, we are ready & we are raring to go with our 2011 reviews, so cannot wait to share our rapturous reflections with you. (DISCO MATT)
