With a lengthening list of latest production releases, we decide to devote a special feature to two prolific players & producers who, both individually & collectively, have hit our house music mark with a trail of terrific tracks & studio sets, while they continue to cut a significant stride across the Spanish, European & global clubbing scene, Ivan Gomez & Nacho Chapado the individuals & Guareber Recordings their collective.

When it comes to music making there is something quite special about Spain, some of the global clubbing scene’s most prolific producers either Spanish or resident in Spain and while Madrid is clearly the capital of the country, Barcelona is the capital of music production, at least in our scene circles, not least that it is global clubbing giant Matinee’s home, but moreover that it has a concentration of D.J./’s & producers that never fail to tick our musical boxes, the likes of Taito Tikaro, Flavio Zarza & our Barca boy Javier Medina all resident in & around the Catalonian capital, while both Phi Romamo & Steven Redant have been based in Barcelona for significant slices of their lives. But the list does go on & on which could never be complete without including Ivan Gomez & Nacho Chapado, both born & bred in Barcelona and very much at the epicentre of musical production through their now world renowned Guareber Recordings label and, while never far out of our radar sight, have cone firmly into view in the last few days, not least due to a handful of new track releases. So, we thought we couldn’t let the moment pass without taking a look at these two music men & their music making, sharing sounds & video’s along the way, as well as touching on the record label that has further cemented a longstanding friendship between the two.

To Ivan Gomez first he a pretty prolific producer of both podcasts & tracks, his Soundcloud site playing testament to that, he managing to fit all this studio work in between a pretty full D.J.’ing schedule that takes him around the world, but mainly in Europe & South America, his marvellous mixture musical genres that extends to tech, progressive, tribal, minimal & underground, make Ivan a considerable commodity among cubs & club promoters. Indeed, with May having seen Ivan play for “The White Party” in Zurich, he then featuring large in the huge Hustlaball meets La Demence Gay Pride Weekend party in Brussels, he has not long landed from representing The Circuit Festival in Tel Aviv, the event a joint pre-party for the festival itself and for the Israeli capital’s upcoming Gay Pride weekend, June kicking off this coming weekend for Mr Gomez at fabulous Milano meet The Farm, that before jetting across to Canada for a special Matinee “Starship” party in Montreal which celebrates host venue Prism’s 10th anniversary. So, it seems that the partying never ends for Ivan, well his live performances at least, giving rise our puzzle over just how he finds the hours in a day he does to dive into the recording studio. But dive he does and the products are plain to see by taking a trip to his Soundcloud site at https://soundcloud.com/ivangomezmusic.

Now to Nacho Chapado, now,  Jose Ignacio adopting his pretty unique first name in his early D.J.’ing days for local radio stations, this very much feeding his appetite for transforming into live performances in clubs, his career path following a similar course to Ivan’s interestingly, as he would often be found D.J.’ing either at home in Spain or across in Italy, Rome’s Gay Village a particular focus, while others have included Hub, The Block, Gorgeous I Am Barbarella, while at home, Fascination, Odarko Club, Into The Tank, StrongMatic, Bear Factory, & Ursus Planet have regularly peppered his schedule. However, in recent times he has broken this anglo Italian mould a little, having played in Brussels alongside Ivan at that Hustlaball party, while at the end of June he will be out in Mexico for a succession of Pride party gigs. Plus, having played right here in London on a small handful of occasions and with this month alone seeing him star in the massive Propaganda party in Belgium, & then mix live music in Montpellier which sandwiches his appearance at Gay Village’s opening & Circuit Festival’s pre-party in Milan, there is certainly plenty of variety in his schedule for sure. So, just like Ivan, it is incredible that he finds time to dive into the recording studio & produce what he does, but that he does with delighting dexterity, regular “”Sessions” podcasts out at https://soundcloud.com/nch/sets/nacho-chapado-in-session-promo, while its to Guareber that we need to look for his track productions.

So that’s where we head now, Guareber Recordings having been developed jointly by Ivan & Nacho in 2010, initially a vehicle for their own track productions, but one that has since become a fully fledged & recognised label as the world. However, with over 250 recordings on the label’s Soundcloud site, the best way to introduce you to the label & its latest releases is through this video

while there are three we would pick out, Nacho’s track “La Musica Que Mueve” having gotten its 2K13 treatment in what is described as a third pack, remixes from Tommy Love Paulo Agulhari & Alex Acosta available at direct link https://soundcloud.com/guareber-recordings/sets/nacho-chapado-la-musica-que-mueve-2k13-3rdpack, this having been released just last week.. Then we turn to the new track from Lydia Sanz, featuring vocals from Vanesa Klein, “Dragons & Kings” very much in the current Matinee style of sound and has no doubt featured in Lydia’s recent live sets, although while the official release on Guareber is not until 26th of this month, you can sneak a listen now by heading to https://soundcloud.com/guareber-recordings/sets/lydia-sanz-vanesa-klein, while it is to another dynamic dancefloor track that we head to, this time Ivan Gomez getting his say. In a collaboration with Micky Friedman, Ivan’s production on “Never Let The Party Stop” is pretty evident, while with Micky’s heavyweight pulling power behind it, we are predicting great times & chart topping moments for this towering tune which gets its official release on Guareber in just two days time, but again we can give you an advance streaming gateway at https://soundcloud.com/ivangomezmusic/ivan-gomez-micky-friedmann-never-let-party-stop-guareber-recordings. But with all those 250 plus releases out at https://soundcloud.com/guareber-recordings/sets/guareber-recordings-all-releases-beatport and available, the majestic musical world that is Ivan Gomez, Nacho Chapado & Guareber Recordings is literally at your clicking fingertips, these brilliant Barcelona based beatmasters very much proving that, in their hands, “Music Is The Answer! About discomatt

The History........................................................Created in 2008 after a short period of blogging under his real name, the pseudonym, “Disco Matt”, was born on the back of a reputation for being London’s original party boy having partied and clubbed across the London gay scene since in mid 1990’s.........................................................Through his series of blogs via individual blogging pages which soon morphed into a full blown website (http://discomatt.com), Disco Matt established himself as an independent journalist come columnist who quickly gained a reputation for supporting & promoting one of the world’s most prolific clubbing scenes. He previewed, reviewed & recommended London gay clubs, as well as the diverse gay/metrosexual London club/bar culture, linking to & reviewing the scene top D.J.’s and generally covering the gay scene including international gay events....................................................Regularly reporting on the top events across the scene, Disco Matt’s reviews, over the years, developed a strong following, not just by clubbers, D.J’s, promoters, music producers & scene faces, but people far and wide that were looking for an insight to the incredible scene that was London. He also previewed upcoming events that signalled, either a major change or update of existing clubs, new ventures on the gAylist/metrosexual scene, or where he considered events that deserved more comprehensive coverage to that provided in other posts.............................................However, having pretty much reached the top of his game in his chosen specific field, due to a number of personal predicaments, challenges & changes in his life priorities, Disco Matt parked his writing and operation in February 2014. While the burning desire to continue remained, what this much needed period of inactivity did provide was the time & space to re-think & re-focus his activities on a broader spectrum of media and entertainment............................................................So, following this long two year lay-off, he built up the foundations for this diversification into the areas of film, theatre, radio & television where his reviewing, recommending & reporting was to be replicated & resurrected, also pointing his promotions through more visuals & video's linked to all these areas along with his core activities and passions ................................................................................The Present....................................After another (shorter) period of lay-off from mid 2016, a life changing event reignited his passion and early into 2017, Disco Matt has delivered on his promise for a new, more modern look to his website, shedding the old & tired skin in favour of something far more in keeping with the times and with his blogging roots. And he has waived a fond farewell to his clubbing days, this having also been ditched from his site & activity, rather now just focussing on the genres of film, theatre, radio, television, video and of course, music, in so doing, aiming to broaden his appeal to a much wider audience interested in the latest most cutting edge areas of media & entertainment.............................................................................His aim is to be highly regarded across the industry for his writing in these fields and ultimately become a full time critic in film &/or theatre.
