The Truth, the Whole Truth & Nothing But The Truth

With the confirmation that George Michael will NOT be performing at the Logan Presents 3rd Anniversary plus, amidst claims from a senior scene figure & clubbing site webmaster that we have created speculative gossip and have showed a lack of professionalism & credibility, Disco Matt now sets the record straight for all to see regarding both the Logan Presents event & these awful accusations.

It is no secret that we have been keeping close tabs on the developments with Logan Presents 3rd Anniversary event, one billed as “…a truly historical showcase…” along with “…the biggest show London will ever experience…” for good reason, as given the fact that the party was to feature one of the world’s biggest pop stars (and a gay icon to boot), this was big news indeed. In fact, when we were first made aware of George Michael being booked for this Logan Presents Anniversary, we reported on it, giving the party decent exposure in our recommends post “Delectable Dance Diary Dates Duo” (just check it out at http://discomatt.com/web/2011/11/recommends-delectable-december-dance-diary-dates-duo-we-disco-1st-logan-presents-3rd-anniversaries-saturday-1st-17th-december/), the prospect of this world famous pop star performing for Logan presents a very tempting prospect indeed.

Headliner In Hosptial

However, when the news came through that George Michael had been taken seriously ill, we felt the need to again report on it, as we always do, giving our opinion on the situation, based on the facts (an important word here) in front of us, this report based on the research we made rather than simply relying on other views or comments. Our report “Headliner In Hospital” at http://discomatt.com/web/2011/11/reports-headliner-in-hospital-logan-presents-3rd-anniversary-saturday-17th-december-newsflash-update/ did however, pose some questions as to the continual claims that George Michael would still be appearing at the Logan Presents 3rd Anniversary, not least that we felt the clubbing & moreover paying public had a right to know. Remember, this event has become & is big news for the scene and, as an investigative journalist and one that has never run away from speaking his mind or telling the truth, plus saying it how he sees it, we felt we were doing no wrong by reporting George’s &, as a result, Logan’s plight as we did.

So, when further news hit our desks of a supposed replacement (she was never billed as an addition!) for George Michael, in X-Factor reject Kitty Brucknall, again seeing that this was big news for this “…history making…” event, we decided to report once again, our post “Here Kitty Kitty” at http://discomatt.com/web/2011/12/reports-here-kitty-kitty-logan-presents-3rd-anniversary-get-well-george-saturday-17th-december-newsflash/, this report having invoked those claims mentioned above, ones implying that we have been unprofessional, have harmed our integrity & credibility, that we have been (and we quote) “…purely speculative bordering on gossip…”. Yet, while we have sought to draw attention to the report through some of the language we have used, the primary aim of both this and our last post on Logan’s 3rd Anniversary, was to get to the truth regarding George Michael’s appearance, one which until today, had still not been confirmed, rather comments on social networking sites & press releases simply referring to the word “hope”, hope that he would be well enough in time, hope that he would appear, rather than the confirmation that the clubbing & paying public, we feel, have the right to know, WILL!!

Prolific Promoter

So, let’s now put the record straight, right here, right now, as following our report yesterday, that senior scene figure & clubbing site webmaster has told us (and we once again quote) “…I contacted Logan for the truth and he can confirm George Michael will not perform…”. Furthermore, this announcement has been made on the clubbing website in question, the extract of which is right here for all to see when it says “…after reading speculative gossip on another website, SeenQueen.com were motivated to get the truth and contacted Logan personally. He replied promptly and we can report the following…”. And that “Truth The Whole Truth & Nothing But The Truth” is that George Michael will NOT be performing at the 3rd Anniversary event this coming Saturday (17th Dec), as in Logan’s Schmitz’s own words he say’s “…sorry for the confusion, things haven’t been so clear with this unfortunate situation. As George has yet to return to London, I have lost all hope that he will perform this weekend…” Logan adding that “…I do know he hates letting people down and he will be performing next year…”.

Wishing Both Logan & George Well

Now, as unfortunate this news is both for the Logan Presents 3rd Anniversary event itself and for those paying ticket holder clubbing public expecting George Michael to be part of the £15, £20, £25 or more package, the fact remains that a categorical confirmation as to whether he would be there or not was what people were looking for. Naturally, with the lack of such a confirmation, people, like ourselves, would raise questions & concerns, quite rightly so, this being the basis of our reporting. However, to be somehow accused of speculation & gossip, we feel, has been a step to far by this individual, yes it is his opinion and he has a right to it, but we have never entertained gossip in our reporting, we state our opinions and we also have a right to do that, especially living in the freedom of speech & press society that we find ourselves within. And to further press the point home, we do not think that by reporting in the way we have, we have compromised either intergrity or credibility, rather put out our opinion on, may we say it again, what had been billed as “…a truly historical showcase…” and now, deeply unfortunately, looks like being a prolific party with two P.A. performers rather than one that sported a worldwide pop icon come legend. That said, as we have mentioned before, we do wish George Michael a speedy recovery and we do also feel for Logan, this potentially another setback for him. Yet, we cannot escape the fact that people may now not consider an ex X Factor contestant as a suitable replacement, this (as we said in previous reports) simply being our opinion rather than speculative gossip, as has been claimed. But to put the record completely straight, we have, just today, received confirmation from Jamie Neve of Logan Presents, that Kitty Brucknall was never booked as a replacement, rather the third P.A., effectively one for each of the three years, so we are told.

So, given this record straightening report, we continue to hold our head high, continue to say it how we see it, continue to report based on fact not fiction and continue to stand by our style of reporting. We do not see what we have reported as “…speculative gossip…” and we do not see we have, in any way, compromised our integrity or credibility. (DISCO MATT)

About discomatt

The History........................................................Created in 2008 after a short period of blogging under his real name, the pseudonym, “Disco Matt”, was born on the back of a reputation for being London’s original party boy having partied and clubbed across the London gay scene since in mid 1990’s.........................................................Through his series of blogs via individual blogging pages which soon morphed into a full blown website (http://discomatt.com), Disco Matt established himself as an independent journalist come columnist who quickly gained a reputation for supporting & promoting one of the world’s most prolific clubbing scenes. He previewed, reviewed & recommended London gay clubs, as well as the diverse gay/metrosexual London club/bar culture, linking to & reviewing the scene top D.J.’s and generally covering the gay scene including international gay events....................................................Regularly reporting on the top events across the scene, Disco Matt’s reviews, over the years, developed a strong following, not just by clubbers, D.J’s, promoters, music producers & scene faces, but people far and wide that were looking for an insight to the incredible scene that was London. He also previewed upcoming events that signalled, either a major change or update of existing clubs, new ventures on the gAylist/metrosexual scene, or where he considered events that deserved more comprehensive coverage to that provided in other posts.............................................However, having pretty much reached the top of his game in his chosen specific field, due to a number of personal predicaments, challenges & changes in his life priorities, Disco Matt parked his writing and operation in February 2014. While the burning desire to continue remained, what this much needed period of inactivity did provide was the time & space to re-think & re-focus his activities on a broader spectrum of media and entertainment............................................................So, following this long two year lay-off, he built up the foundations for this diversification into the areas of film, theatre, radio & television where his reviewing, recommending & reporting was to be replicated & resurrected, also pointing his promotions through more visuals & video's linked to all these areas along with his core activities and passions ................................................................................The Present....................................After another (shorter) period of lay-off from mid 2016, a life changing event reignited his passion and early into 2017, Disco Matt has delivered on his promise for a new, more modern look to his website, shedding the old & tired skin in favour of something far more in keeping with the times and with his blogging roots. And he has waived a fond farewell to his clubbing days, this having also been ditched from his site & activity, rather now just focussing on the genres of film, theatre, radio, television, video and of course, music, in so doing, aiming to broaden his appeal to a much wider audience interested in the latest most cutting edge areas of media & entertainment.............................................................................His aim is to be highly regarded across the industry for his writing in these fields and ultimately become a full time critic in film &/or theatre.
