Having flown right under our radar since our appearance at the first ever Delice Dream festival, we thought it was high time that we focused on this fabulous French fancy of a brand & foray as its gets set to celebrate its twelve anniversary with a string of soiree’s starting in its home town of Lyon this Saturday (8th Feb), we taking a brief look at what’s in store as well as pointing towards the next party in April.

Delice - 12th Anniversary Banner

Delice - BannerWhen we cast our eyes across the channel to our continental cousin, France, probably the first name linked to clubbing that comes into our head is Delice and while it may not be the longest lasting brand the French can boast, making it to twelve years in opulent operation isn’t bad at all. Indeed, not only has Delice secured its place in its homes country’s clubbing history, but it has made its mark right across the world, Europe naturally its richest playing ground, while Australia, & South America have had superb slices of this fabulous French foray. And it’s chief principal, Anthony Areal & his partner Diego, continue to head a clubbing concept that combine forces with some of the biggest & best brands around, examples including La Demence, The Week, Muccassassina & London’s lamented Lovechild, while regular events across in Antwerp & Amsterdam extend the partying beyond the French borders. Plus, Delice, as recently as three weeks ago, was intrinsically involved in the opening of Manhattan Café, the new hip & happening hangout in Lille, while naturally, much of the group’s activity centres around its base in Lyon, from where it takes on tours that also include the European Gay Ski Week & the Circuit Festival in Barcelona, while it is its very own “Dream” week in Spain that springboards us into the summer festival season superbly.

Delice - AnthonySo, Delice as a concept & clubbing cavorter is still very much alive & kicking, indeed on the cusp of celebrating twelve years in the business of sexy & seductive spectacles, this Saturday (9th Feb) however marking a new phase in partying, Anthony extolling the virtues of what will be a new club, a new show & a new concept for Delice, so in some ways a brave new beginning. And the club is brand spanking new to Lyon, Sound Factory opening its doors for the first time on Saturday & offering Delice “…100% privacy…” which will allow them to sport some of the sexiest strip shows in their history, as well as enforcing a majority men policy, a brave & bold step but one that very much fits with the Delice ethos, Anthony asking, “…are you ready to enjoy the new version of Delice, if so then expect the unexpected and be a man among the lost men…” the party theme for this 12th Anniversary outing being “Lost Men”. But the D.J.’s will be far from lost, as they are all familiar with the Delice decks & dancefloor(s), Mister Mola heading up a team that extends to Cyril G of Hunkut fame, along with special guest S Ross, the music sure to be uplifting euphoric and overtly seductive & sexy, while sponsors AussieBum will be decking out the scantily clad Delice boy dancers who are among the steamiest & sexy looking lads on the scene. All this kicking off in Lyon this Saturday (8th Feb) full & further details out on the events page at https://facebook.com/events/308981089245154/, while the team do it all again in Antwerp in April, more on that up at https://facebook.com/events/237050649794052/.

Well, with a new concept, a new club & new shows, it certainly looks like the clock has struck a resounding twelve for Delice and we wish them all the best & the success the deserve as they embark on their 12th anniversary series of events and, with a bit of luck, we will be rubbing shoulders with the brilliant brand in the not too distant future, whether it be in France, Belgium, Spain or wherever Anthony & his team turn up. About discomatt

The History........................................................Created in 2008 after a short period of blogging under his real name, the pseudonym, “Disco Matt”, was born on the back of a reputation for being London’s original party boy having partied and clubbed across the London gay scene since in mid 1990’s.........................................................Through his series of blogs via individual blogging pages which soon morphed into a full blown website (http://discomatt.com), Disco Matt established himself as an independent journalist come columnist who quickly gained a reputation for supporting & promoting one of the world’s most prolific clubbing scenes. He previewed, reviewed & recommended London gay clubs, as well as the diverse gay/metrosexual London club/bar culture, linking to & reviewing the scene top D.J.’s and generally covering the gay scene including international gay events....................................................Regularly reporting on the top events across the scene, Disco Matt’s reviews, over the years, developed a strong following, not just by clubbers, D.J’s, promoters, music producers & scene faces, but people far and wide that were looking for an insight to the incredible scene that was London. He also previewed upcoming events that signalled, either a major change or update of existing clubs, new ventures on the gAylist/metrosexual scene, or where he considered events that deserved more comprehensive coverage to that provided in other posts.............................................However, having pretty much reached the top of his game in his chosen specific field, due to a number of personal predicaments, challenges & changes in his life priorities, Disco Matt parked his writing and operation in February 2014. While the burning desire to continue remained, what this much needed period of inactivity did provide was the time & space to re-think & re-focus his activities on a broader spectrum of media and entertainment............................................................So, following this long two year lay-off, he built up the foundations for this diversification into the areas of film, theatre, radio & television where his reviewing, recommending & reporting was to be replicated & resurrected, also pointing his promotions through more visuals & video's linked to all these areas along with his core activities and passions ................................................................................The Present....................................After another (shorter) period of lay-off from mid 2016, a life changing event reignited his passion and early into 2017, Disco Matt has delivered on his promise for a new, more modern look to his website, shedding the old & tired skin in favour of something far more in keeping with the times and with his blogging roots. And he has waived a fond farewell to his clubbing days, this having also been ditched from his site & activity, rather now just focussing on the genres of film, theatre, radio, television, video and of course, music, in so doing, aiming to broaden his appeal to a much wider audience interested in the latest most cutting edge areas of media & entertainment.............................................................................His aim is to be highly regarded across the industry for his writing in these fields and ultimately become a full time critic in film &/or theatre.
