With our anticipation & excitement levels at fever pitch as news comes in of a new Pitron podcast devoted to WE’s upcoming “Formula 2”, anniversary, we thought we would share some of our frenzied euphoria and re-issue our features covering Steve’s last two WE podcasts devoted to this brilliant brand as well as focussing on what makes the man & his studio compilation sessions so special
There can be no doubt that, in music terms at least, the announcement of a new Steve Pitron podcast pressing outstrips any other in our books, recent history showing that we have, each & every time, been sent into an absolute frenzy ahead of their actual releases, 2012 alone seeing unprecedented levels of anticipation & excitement for his “January” them double “Summer” compilations, each one still making it to our daily MP3 playlists as we zoom around London’s roads to the phenomenal pedal power Mr Pitron’s podcasts produce in us. Moreover, even when that anticipation & fevered excitement has died down, Steve’s pitch perfect productions never fail to keep us hooked & entertained, every listen to certain track selections sending us soaring, great examples being “Take Me Higher” from Jan 2012, “My World” from Summer Part One & “Must Be The Feeling” from Summer Part Two, while it is also his stunningly seamless mixing of tracks that does it too, corkers to be found on every production of his that, for us, sits him head & shoulders above any other D.J. we know, those goose bump & spectacularly shivering sensation when he hits that nixing nail on the head, littering his compilations like no other.
However, while we absolutely adore his “Session” podcasts, the ones he devotes to club brands such as Beyond also hit the high notes in our estimations, Steve’s most recent release devoted to WE Party and the “Hi Japan” themed event that premiered here in the capital in September, a-typical of what he himself called “Peak Time Pitron” and was a mix that got right into the WE groove from the off, the sixty seven minute studio set selection proving its popularity with over 35,000 downloads to date. However, Steve was also an intrinsic part of WE Party’s launch in London just under two years ago, he marking this momentous occasion & his showing there, by laying down a considerable compilation that, even now, sounds as fresh, appealing & thrilling as it did on original release. Indeed, having spent a day playing both, back-to-back, this on top of the podcast precipice we find ourselves on as Mr Pitron taunts & teases us with his new WE podcast production devoted to the upcoming “Formula 2” anniversary event, we thought it appropriate to re-release/re-share the special focuses & posts we published at the time of both previous WE podcast productions, so that you too can feel some of the fabulous frenzy we find ourselves within as Steve prepares to enter his studio & create this new podcast.
Heading back to 2010 first and the posts & features we devoted to Steve’s first WE compilation, this marking a new era in Pitron podcast production & the frenzy it created in our world, the words we used speaking their own volumes, when we exuded of him & his heavenly house music mix….
“…Steve Pitron, has been charming the crowds across the capitals clubbing scene for well over 10 years now, this list of events & club nights he has played in, very much reading like a who’s who, notable highlights being PSP, Crash, Juicy, Orange, SuperMartXe, and, not forgetting Beyond, Mr Pitron, like virtually no D.J. we know, having this amazing attraction & ability to lift any party. And whilst recent times have seen him very much being the darling of the main room at Area on a Sunday morning, delighting the packed out space with one amazing anthem after the next, the depth of Steve’s talents & his superb skill for pitching the music just right for the occasion, is no better displayed than through his latest compilation, that he has laid down especially for this Saturday’s WE Party. And he has, once again pulled an incredible compilation out of the bag, this one devoted to WE Party, Mr Pitron explaining of his creation, “…the session starts & ends with “WE (Eloise)” as well as some turbo-charged bass heavy Spanish productions mixed up with some tougher beats from my current sets, giving you a taste of what to expect…” very much dispelling the myth that his performance on Saturday will be just like another Beyond two hours. In fact, of all the compilations of his we have in our collection, this is the cleverest, the best thought out & most entertainingly diverse so far and has to be heard to be believed.

So, having very much been the soundtrack of our weekend return to his homeland, when we caught up with old friends over in Essex, we got hooked to a couple of tracks, the first being John Dalback’s “Back To the Dancefloor” which we had on repeat most of the weekend (check it out at http://youtube.com/watch?v=Non3nlCpT54, the visuals being nearly as good as the track), Steve blending it superbly into JC’s “Souk” (has got to rival one of the best pieces of mixing we have heard all year). As for the other, well, if like us you were a Tears For Fears fan (we are showing our age!) then you will love Peter Rauhofer’s remix of their smash “Everybody Wants To Rule The World”, which you can catch in full eight minute glory at http://youtube.com/watch?v=dr7O4tamqTY. However, in terms of Mr Pitron’s latest work, the list goes on, Kelly Rowland’s “Commander” in yet another rapturous remix, main WE main Carlos Gallardo’s “Get It Up” (it’s on his mix too) ,“David Tort’s “Chase The Sun” and not forgetting the brilliant blockbuster “Show Me Your Love” by Miguel Picasso featuring Rebeka Brown’s incredible vocals, which will surely make a showing on Saturday, as should Tune In Tokyo’s “Dreamer” & Chris Montana’s “Don’t Give Up”, which is destined for greatness for sure (check out the Good Guy remix at http://youtube.com/watch?v=2IFcT9RSk8E) , but stop it Steve, as we can’t take this magnificent music anymore (well we can actually) and you can too, by going to http://stevepitronsessions.podomatic.com/entry/2010-11-23T13_33_38-08_00…”
Fast forwarding to 2012 and just three months ago when Steve second WE podcast was produced, it is interesting to see who similar the focus features read both in terms of disecting detail style, not least that we once again shared some track video links, one of our favourite of the year so far included here….
“…Having waited what seemed to be an age following the release of his first podcast of 2012 and with an ever mounting list of new tracks featuring in his live performances, we were relieved when Steve Pitron made it into the recording studio to lay down his two part “Summer 2012” podcasts, this relief quickly turning into unbounded pleasure & excitement when they pressed, published & pushed into the public domain. And as with his “January Sessions” compilation, we were once again swept us off our feet with their splendour. Both Part 1 & 2 having included many of the towering tunes that had been floating our musical boat throughout his live performance sets at places such as Beyond, Matinee, WE, Play>Time & Room Service. So, it seemed that this double part devotion to all things summer was now surely enough to keep the podcast panging wolf from our door, well at least for another couple of months, although amidst suggestions that a third part was on the cards, very much out of the blue came a call to say that he had he had just emerged from his studio with a new podcast devoted to the then upcoming WE “Hi Japan” event, we immediately thrown into ecstatic excitement & anticipation mode of this third release, all in little over two months.
So here it is, Steve Pitron’s new & latest podcast, “WE Party Hi Japan” packing an immediate punch, getting right down to beats business from the very first bar, Steve himself remarking that “…this is peak time Pitron right from the off…”, upfront, uplifting & vocal house the indelible ingredients here, that peak time reference playing out to prolific effect, artists on this majestic mix including pop mistresses Kylie Minogue & Madonna, while Florence & The Machine are in there too, along with the likes of Peter Rauhofer & the Shapeshifters. But with an eye on the WE music branding ethos, Steve has blended in some tougher tech beats, although neatly sandwiching them in-between a flock of floor fillers that include the 2012 version “Lola’s Theme” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okZf-NqS_bg) another mix version of “Spectrum”, Phil Romano & Steven Redant’s mix of “Timebomb” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yhg7xsR1Lhg) & the ever popular “Somebody I Used To Know”, while there are others lifted from his “Summer 2012” podcast(s) to keep the Pitron faithful happy but also those more progressive beats to pander to the WE crowd. And with the compilation a supercharged yet sleet sixty seven minutes long, it scores as his shortest studio podcast production to date, yet fulfils just as much as those twice its length and has quickly found a place in whizzing us into work each day of the week and one we are sure you will want to add to your collection pretty quickly by going to direct link http://stevepitronsessions.podomatic.com/entry/2012-08-23T03_59_43-07_00…”

But what of this latest Pitron production that will mark his third devotion to WE?, well, while we count ourselves extremely fortunate & privileged to be on the inside sound selection track, we having been gratefully graced with advance pressings on previous releases from this & last year, it will come as no surprise that we have been sworn to secrecy (better known as “the gagging order”) on this latest compilation creation. However, what we can (& are allowed to) say is simply this; on the basis of the bag of beats currently in his box, Steve’s WE “Formula 2” mix will definitely prove to be yet another pressing that will push the Podomatic popularity envelope to the max, making it an essential addition to your collection and, like all his other releases, proving that, in Steve Pitron’s heavenly & majestic hands, “Music Is The Answer!
