Having been running for a full twelve months we felt a tad guilty that Booster had continued to miss our review radar, although we did make a brief visit last October following the Jean Michel Jarre concert, but with Booster positioned right at the end of our usually hectic weekend, plus with work & writing commitments, we do find it difficult to squeeze it into our schedule. However, given the special celebration, we pushed ourselves to make the effort, our stay at the previous party, Later “The Mods Part II” making a third trip to Area in one weekend a more palatable prospect. So arriving about an hour into proceedings having stopped off in Barcode next door for a re-fuelling stop, the host venue for the highly successful Booster pre-party the previous evening that actually turned out to be a full-blown event, packing in the punters from 8 p.m. through till 3 a.m., Area was definitely buzzing with activity, the Terrace room rammed with revellers, many whom had been partying most of the weekend and clearly didn’t want it to stop. With dynamic D.J. Ferno elevating the atmosphere with some rip roaring electro & tech toned tracks, moving through to The Chapel room found a slightly more sedate set of sounds from Booster’s other main resident, Miss Crazy D, we also just in time to see a succession of stage shows by Raul Gonzalez’s troupe of dazzling dancers. But with the overriding sense that the four day weekend had taken its toll on the crowd, the eclectic mixture of Booster bravehearts not really our cup of tea, as was the manic music, especially in the Terrace room, we resigned ourselves to the outside area for the remainder of our short stay, those mandatory work & writing duties playing on our minds, although with pals Paul Heron & Cougar lover Stephen staying the pace until the 3 a.m. finish & reporting a healthy crowd as well as a superb showing by Sharon O Love, there is still plenty to say, meaning it’s “…ready, steady, go for the review…” (DISCO MATT)
