Well, it has been a long time coming, but the day has arrived when we can, excitingly, announce the launch of our new one-stop website, a momentous day in Disco Matt land and one which we are coining “go for launch”, perhaps not quite as spectacular as the first rocket in space, the first man on the moon or even that first space shuttle mission, but a significant launch & step in our relatively short yet eventful history. And yes, it has been just under three years since we started putting pen to paper, Disco Matt having been born & developed following publication of his review of Matinee in February 2008, on tip top clubbing website SeenQueen, we having gone on to rack up exactly 200 reviews since then, although as we have broadened our services ,other posts & reports have pushed up that incredible figure to well over 400, adding previews, weekend recommendations, hot dates & music pages to our family of blogs. But in an ever changing & fast moving world and with our reputation & name established, the time came for us to step out of our “blogging” label, by creating a full-on website to encompass the full range of our work, offering a “one-stop shop” for our regular readers & wider audiences. So, given this step forward in the development of Disco Matt, making for “a new look, a new direction”, we thought we would guide you through some of the new features and how the website works.

First and foremost, when logging into http://discomatt.com the introductory page will quickly take you through to our home page, which is the starting point for navigating around the site. There you will see a list of our categories, some familiar others not, although very much like our old look home page, give you the option to choose which style of report you are looking to select, whether it be our latest review, the preview you are looking or that music post we have mentioned. But you will also see some new sections, “Recommends”, “Reports”, “D.J.’s”, “DM Does…” & “Disco Matters”, some relatively obvious others not so, the following giving a brief explanation of each.

Recommends –

Here you will find recommendations for events during the calendar week & month, compiled as “Weekend Focuses” which detail specific events, “Best Bites” which run down our top choices in any given weekend, & “Extra Bites” which cover that hot off the press & last minute news that deserves an extra shout. All these posts aim to guide you through what is best on offer in gAylist/land London as well as ground breaking new clubs where metrosexuality is the name of the game and act as additions not replacements to our full previews.

Reports –

Here you will find reports & features on the latest news to hit the scene, whether it be music, clubbing or otherwise. We aim to tackle burning issues affecting to clubbing world, as well as reporting on topical news that escapes our review, preview & recommends posts.

D.J.’s –

Here you will find specific bio’s for D.J.’s that we have recommended & featured in our regular music posts as well as those who have commissioned work directly from us. These bio’s are intended for both promotional & reference purposes and in some cases will also feature on the D.J’s own websites, podcast pages & promotional material. Further details of our D.J. bio services can be obtained by mailing matt@discomatt.com.

DM Does…. –

Here you will find reports, reviews & features on our activity that falls outside the remit of our other posts. Articles will include cultural reviews of cities we have visited during our clubbing duties as well other activity related to both the music & club world and we also feature our monthly music newsletter here.

Disco Matters –

Here we tackle topics of the day, exciting changes in the club, bar & events scene and also deal with the tricky issues that the more mainstream press outlets tend to avoid. Giving club & bar owners, promoters, event organisers, D.J.’s & scene figureheads the opportunity to respond, having put them on the spot in full & frank discussions & interviews, Disco Matters reports aim to answer many of the questions you yourselves are asking as well as delivering transparency & unbiased reporting.

But back to the home page and the side bar sections particularly (all which also appear within each category) and within the first side bar you will see that you can link directly with our social networking pages, Facebook, Myspace, & MyGayFace, while also being able to follow our activity at both ScreamQueen & Twitter. In addition, there are “quick” links to our posts via both the “Featured” & “Most Viewed” sidebar links, which become section specific when you select the relevant category. Underneath that is a section called “Trending”, which highlights individuals, venues & events by name (commonly known as “Tags”) that have featured in our reports. By clicking on one of your choice the latest posts including the said person, venue or event will appear, yet another way to view our articles in a new & evolutionary way, plus you can navigate around the site via the “Tags” which appear at the head of each & every post.

Now, onto the second side bar, which has been set aside for both advertising & linking into our friends websites, which you can do by simply clicking on the relevant icon box. As for advertising, this will be rolled out over the next few weeks &, like the friends boxes, will allow you to link directly with their web pages. Further details of how to advertise, rates, etc, can be obtained by mailing matt@discomatt.com.

Finally, given this step change in our development, we will be phasing out our posts via BlogSpot over the next few weeks, with full conversion completed by the beginning of 2011. Notices have been issued on each page to redirect our readers and whilst, naturally, our BlogSpot pages have both familiarity & appeal, we are sure the new look & new direction will gain as much popularity as the former. However, we want to welcome your comments & feedback which you can do in two way, either by completing the “contact” form at the foot of our new website or by mailing us direct (address as above).

So, that as they say is that, the new look & the new direction of http://discomatt.com, the one-stop site that we have been waiting for and one that will hopefully broaden our appeal, profile &, most importantly, our viewership., leaving us to simply say…”Go There! Be There!”. (DISCO MATT)

About discomatt

The History........................................................Created in 2008 after a short period of blogging under his real name, the pseudonym, “Disco Matt”, was born on the back of a reputation for being London’s original party boy having partied and clubbed across the London gay scene since in mid 1990’s.........................................................Through his series of blogs via individual blogging pages which soon morphed into a full blown website (http://discomatt.com), Disco Matt established himself as an independent journalist come columnist who quickly gained a reputation for supporting & promoting one of the world’s most prolific clubbing scenes. He previewed, reviewed & recommended London gay clubs, as well as the diverse gay/metrosexual London club/bar culture, linking to & reviewing the scene top D.J.’s and generally covering the gay scene including international gay events....................................................Regularly reporting on the top events across the scene, Disco Matt’s reviews, over the years, developed a strong following, not just by clubbers, D.J’s, promoters, music producers & scene faces, but people far and wide that were looking for an insight to the incredible scene that was London. He also previewed upcoming events that signalled, either a major change or update of existing clubs, new ventures on the gAylist/metrosexual scene, or where he considered events that deserved more comprehensive coverage to that provided in other posts.............................................However, having pretty much reached the top of his game in his chosen specific field, due to a number of personal predicaments, challenges & changes in his life priorities, Disco Matt parked his writing and operation in February 2014. While the burning desire to continue remained, what this much needed period of inactivity did provide was the time & space to re-think & re-focus his activities on a broader spectrum of media and entertainment............................................................So, following this long two year lay-off, he built up the foundations for this diversification into the areas of film, theatre, radio & television where his reviewing, recommending & reporting was to be replicated & resurrected, also pointing his promotions through more visuals & video's linked to all these areas along with his core activities and passions ................................................................................The Present....................................After another (shorter) period of lay-off from mid 2016, a life changing event reignited his passion and early into 2017, Disco Matt has delivered on his promise for a new, more modern look to his website, shedding the old & tired skin in favour of something far more in keeping with the times and with his blogging roots. And he has waived a fond farewell to his clubbing days, this having also been ditched from his site & activity, rather now just focussing on the genres of film, theatre, radio, television, video and of course, music, in so doing, aiming to broaden his appeal to a much wider audience interested in the latest most cutting edge areas of media & entertainment.............................................................................His aim is to be highly regarded across the industry for his writing in these fields and ultimately become a full time critic in film &/or theatre.
