Having been literally on the go since the early hours of Friday morning with all things Muccassassina & Rome dominating the next 36 hours, it was well past midnight on Saturday that we landed back in London, pretty much laying to waste the first leg of our Spring Bank Holiday partying plans in the capital. So, with to head down to Pulse for the latest SuperMartXe meet very much sidelined due to flight & foray fatigue, the most we could manage was a cameo appearance at WE “Candy” at The Coronet, our arm having been severely twisted by a close D.J. pal of ours, who’s insistent messages throughout the day & just minutes after our London landing, saw us arrive at WE’s doors just before 1 a.m., although safe in the knowledge that our “Secret Scripting Squirrel ” (SSS) was on hand to take over our place in reviewing the club. So, with the usual wonderful welcome from door hosts & organisers Ben Kaye & Tom Fuller over, both who incidentally had their hands full managing probably THE biggest set of queues we had seen at this venue, we were into WE in a jot, heading straight for a liaison with our pal Mr Pitron who was waiting for us at the VIP entrance and eager to party & socialise with us at what already looked like the sweet smell of success for this “Candy” event, The Coronet crammed with clubbers, occupying virtually every spot below our privileged position on the VIP balcony.
With energy boosting refreshments in hand to fight off our fatigue, Steve lead us into the milling crowd where we hooked up with his significant other, our Brazilian beaut Celso, along with a list of lovelies that included Jamie Feldman, our cougar clubber Stephen, the fabulous Frenchman & Delice head honcho Anthony Aureal, plus loads more who, like us, were vying for a view of the impending stage show. And, squeezing into a spot with Steve & co on the dancefloor done, we watched as this captivating “Candy” opening appearance by the drop dead gorgeous go-go guys & girls was played out prolifically, the huge trio of LED screen’s swinging into action, the lasers doing their wonderful work & a succession of pyrotechnic displays leaving us completely wowed by WE, very much back to where it was when it lavishly launched in London some seven months ago. Plus, with D’Johnny having delivered a delight of an opening set, Paul Heron was now ascertaining his authority on the action, pulling out a prolific performance that saw even incumbent WE resident Carlos Gallardo literally bow at his feet, before both he & P.A. perfectionist Peyton showered this sweetest of shindigs with their own spectacular showings, we doing our own bowing along with Steve just before, both of us in need of battery recharging in advance of the next leg of our weekends. So, leaving much of the latter action to be scooped up by our “SSS”, yet with much more to say on this captivating “Candy” club collective, it’s “…ready steady go, for the “terrabite” review…” (DISCO MATT)
