There is no doubt in our minds that probably the most sought after prize for any bar, club or event in the capital, is scooping a SeenQueen (SQ) award, indeed over the five years that this sometimes controversial poll has been running, it generates an brilliant buzz across gAylist land London & beyond (yes our international friends love it too), a whole wealth of events, organisations & individuals acknowledging it’s important standing within the clubbing mechanism. And given SQ’s position as a respected & popular clubbing website, there is little wonder that the yearly poll attracts amazing attention and carries so much weight in the community. Moreover, a SeenQueen crown on an add, a flyer or a round of publicity is a treasured prize for clubs, promoters, & event organisers, so much so, that the “Your Disco Needs You” poll always invokes incredible reaction & generally intense activity towards the final few days.
Now, there are plenty of other polls around, think of The Boyz awards, The Pink Paper’s version and a wealth of others that walk the walk & talk the talk, but none quite so much as “Your Disco Needs You”, a name quite close to our hearts for obvious reasons. Indeed the reputation for SeenQueen’s poll to be fair & properly run is the cornerstone to its success, plus with an impeccable pedigree, others can only look on in admiration and some can only dream of aspiring to the SQ poll, not least the recent Maximale Music Experience D.J. awards, run through social networking site Facebook, an example where lack of organisation, credibility & voting ethics, saw it floundering at the second of its four hurdles and in the process disenchanting a whole host of internationally renowned & respected D.J’s. So, if you think running a poll is an easy exercise, think again, it takes a lot of thought & hard work on the part of organisers and a huge amount of trust & enthusiasm by its participants, although SeenQueen’s poll has all these qualities running through it in abundance.
So, with the “Your Disco Needs You” pedigree laid out, what does the poll consist of? Well, quite simply, this SeenQueen annual event allows you, the clubber, scene goer, socialite, etc, to vote for your favourite bar, club & event, the choice based, yes, on those that make SeenQueen’s site throughout the year (and why not, it’s their poll afterall), but pretty much an all encompassing list of choices ranging from Barcode to Beyond, Profile to Pervert, Rupert St to Rapido, Shadow Lounge to SuperMartXe and many more besides, categories extending to best bar, best club weekly/bi-weekly, best club monthly/bi-monthly, best event & best international event. Plus, what’s more, unlike some polls, “Your Disco Needs You” allows you to vote for as many as you want to within each category, as they say “…we know how much you like variety…”, so fair is fair and you can’t say fairer than that.
Now, how can you get involved?, Well its simple really, just log onto http://seenqueen.com/, the enter page taking you straight to the poll itself where you can get voting (you can also click on direct link http://seenqueen.com/web/2010/yourdisconeedsyou2010/), although the intrinsic part of making your vote count & register, is being able to allow the organisers to identify you as legitimate, but you wouldn’t be anything else, right? To do this, all that’s required is a valid e-mail address, your inclusion on SQ’s mailing list, or an accurate link to a known social networking site (Facebook, Twitter etc), but with the rules plain & clear to see, you can’t go wrong. After that, it’s simply a question of casting your votes and making them count, not just by supporting the bars, clubs, events that floated your boat during the year, but moreover, giving your favourites a huge pat on the back for their hard work, especially if the result is that they grab that coveted SeenQueen poll crown.
Finally we come to the important bit and as our title suggests, there are just a few days left for you to vote, So, if you have had your heads buried in the sand for the last few weeks, it’s time to poke those heads above the parapet, cast your votes and be part of this polling phenomenon. But, with the closing date for votes coming close (20th Jan to be exact) and the overall standings closer than ever, now is you opportunity to make a difference, current trends (although we recommend not to dwell on trends, as interesting as they are, rather vote for your favourites) suggesting that this could be the closest running contest we have seen yet, with just three days to go, the margins are tight and the gap between first & last even tighter. All this means that every single vote counts, adding up to the fact that your favourite bar, club & event needs your vote. So, what are you waiting for?! It’s all a mere click away at http://seenqueen.com/web/2010/yourdisconeedsyou2010/, we having cast ours, so you should do too, in the knowledge that As One ascends the rest, Beyond ends up the best, Hustlaball hits a high, Lovechild lifts the prize, or Profile tops the pile (no suggestions intended!), and all because “Your Disco Needs You”.
